Rectal drugs inserted lower down avoid first pass metabolism, only when it rises is it subjected to first pass metabolism, there is no distinct point where one point starts and the other ends but generally we say suppositories avoid first pass metabolism

This was a great review for my NAPLEX. I had to take a 3 year break before finishing pharmacy school and this was a great summary to jog my memory. Wish we had more teachers like you in school! Please keep up the amazing work!

i might be able to help with that... yes, the main purpose is to 'add in polar group'... addition of hydroxyl group would increase the polarity of the compound... the hydroxylation reaction, overall, is a redox reaction ^^
