As a GAME, that shouldn't be an unpopular opinion, I'd play it too 😁 It was a little cheesy in the movie because it wasn't the same experience for people just watching it as a movie without having played the game. It really needed a better story (John Carmack didn't believe Doom needed any story), and production that drew the movie viewer more into the "FPS experience". But its still good cinema compared to Doom Annihilation (evidenced by how quickly Id Software distanced themselves from it with a rather blunt tweet) 😆

After seeing Karl Urban's excellent portrayal as Judge Dredd in "Dredd (2012)", I think he'd be a great choice to play the Doom Slayer *if* another film or whatever were to be made. Still, Hollywood is dying from Woke politics, and the days of actual talent are being left by the wayside. I think people were too harsh on this movie when it released. Yes, it had flaws and don't have single original material in it's dna except this scene, still it's competently shot and directed. Maybe it didn't fully commit to original material but that was expected since adaptations to diffirent media formats brings difficulties. Soo many people thought this movie was based on original DOOM but this was not the case, movie is clearly based on DOOM 3 with its dark corridors, far and between monster intractions and emphasis on suspense. I also liked the influence of Alien and Predator since these movies also influenced the original game. I mean what's not to like? this movie is perfect for the fans of DOOM!

Absolutely. The Monster Designs and the action scenes are awesome.

I watched this movie recently, and thought it was rather boring. It just seemed like the whole movie was a buildup to this one part, and it's so brief that it hardly feels worth it. Maybe the director's cut is better.

I also love how the music in this scene sounds like a slowed down version of the classic doom theme, which, kinda makes sense since this would be kinda like the ‘’birth’’ of the Doomguy in this universe. I always had a soft spot for this movie, and I continue to enjoy it to this day.

I've watched this scene well over a hundred times now. I'm really curious on how this scene was filmed. Doesn't feel like they just strapped a Go-Pro on him and had Karl Urban follow a set path (Besides, Go-Pro's weren't a thing back on 2005 yet, I think). The hands and the rifle feel like it's CG at times, and other times it feels like a greenscreen over the scene itself.
@liquidplague97633 жыл бұрын
GoPro was founded in 2002 and started selling 35mm cameras in 2004. If it's practical effects, they probably wouldn't have Karl Urban wear a camera; they would have a camera operator wearing a camera rig film the video and then add any CGI to the footage.

This is my favourite part of this film. I think if they’d made it in this first person style (where Karl Urban’s character had a helmet camera) as a found-footage film, it could’ve worked really well - like [REC] meets Aliens, but the camera doesn’t follow the hero because it is the hero.
