First R211S Car Heading to Staten Island by Truck - Transfer from South Brooklyn Marine Terminal

Here are several videos taken on October 11, 2023 midnight, featuring the the first 5-car unit of brand new R211S subway cars that will eventually serve the Staten Island Railway! On this night, because the train had completed enough testing on NYC Subway trackage, the first car of this unit to head to Staten Island from Brooklyn - car 100 - was loaded for shipment from South Brooklyn Marine Terminal, and trucked to Staten Island's Clifton Yard. Once all five cars of the unit are unloaded at Staten Island from Brooklyn, the train will be prepared for further testing on Staten Island Railway trackage.
The Staten Island Railway is expected to receive 15 five-car R211S units for a total of 75 cars. This should adequately replace the 61 50+ year-old R44 cars that currently operate on the line.
All footage was taken from areas accessible to the public. No trespassing was done or intended to be done.

Splendid. At last, the call for the Staten Island Railway to get a whole new fleet of R211S train sets has finally been answered. This is what I’ve been waiting for and for the call to be made and answered has helped restore my faith that Staten Island is in a much better position transit wise

Those R160s would require extra mods, as these specific R211s have special equipment for railway use.
