The Brothers Gibb. No autotune, no veneers. Just pure talent, and hits that spanned across 5 decades. Try Too Much Heaven, Jive Talking & Love You Inside Out as a small sampling. The video was filmed on the old lot/set for the TV show “Combat” which ran from 1962-1967.

The song Stayin' Alive is about survival on the streets of New York, inspired by Nic Cohn's paperback Tribal Rites of the Saturday Night, which was the basis for the classic film Saturday Night Fever. This legendary video was shot at MGM Studios in Culver City, Hollywood California, in the ruins of That's Entertainment's 1974 film starring Fred Astaire, while the Bee Gees were filming the Beatles' 1978 film Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band on the premises.

The soundtrack for the movie Saturday Night Fever was all over the radio in 1978. This was several songs by them but also others from other artists. At one point the Bee Gees (it's "Gees" pronounced like the letter G) had three singles in the top 10 at the same time (this song plus Night Fever and How Deep Is Your Love).

The BeeGees were: the tallest and oldest brother (with the big hair and beard), Barry Gibb, born September 1, 1946, the only surviving Gibb brother. Robin Gibb (with the long hair, no beard), born December 22, 1949-passed away May 20, 2012, and Robin's fraternal twin brother Maurice (the balding brother with the beard, pronounced "Morris") Gibb, born December 22, 1949-passed away January 12, 2003. They also had another, younger, brother Andy Gibb, born March 5, 1958-passed away March 10, 1988. The three oldest brothers were born on the Isle of Man (UK). Oldest brother Barry got seriously burned when he accidentally pulled boiling tea over himself at 18 months old. He was in coma for a while, nearly died and was in hospital for many months. Because of this, he did not learn to talk until after the twins were born. Later the family moved to Manchester and from there they emigrated to Australia in 1958, right after Andy was born. All 4 brothers are just natural musical talents. All of them dropped out of high school in their early teens and none of them could read or write music. All their compositions were created completely organically. Their musical career, which they had started as little kids, didn't lead to international success so they moved back to the UK in 1967. Then they had a string of big hits, until they temporarily broke up around 1970 for 15 months. Started back up, looking for a new sound which they first found in 1974 with the transitional album "Mr. Natural". After that "Main Course" was the first album that moved them into a new direction: more rhythm&blues, dance music like with great hits like Nights on Broadway and Jive Talkin' (and was also actually the first album on which their logo was introduced). From 1976 on they went all out with falsetto driven dance music which lead to their biggest commercial success as they provided classic songs for the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack (1977 Stayin' Alive, How Deep is Your Love, Night Fever amongst them). You should react to the 1979 live version of Stayin' Alive, too kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZ_MiYaebNuKiKs Other great songs to analyze: great album tracks from the 1979 Spirits Having Flown album, the title song: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXnCm2xmm6h8oZY, the outrageously beautiful song Reaching Out kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJerhoZrgstjZrM. From their Still Waters album, Smoke and MIrrors: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4Wcp4V-iLyBmM0. From the 1960's I've gotta get a message to you kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXKXdHykedOHoZo. And from the 1990's the simple song Blue Island live in an accoustic version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2eVeJ93etWZqLs. Andy was kind of Barry's mini me, about half a foot shorter and 12 years younger but they were the only lefties of the family. However, his voice was nowhere near as broad in range or as strong as Barry's. As producer Alby Galuten said in the book "Tales of the brothers Gibb "Andy's falsetto was nowhere near Barry's." Andy had a lower, huskier, sound to his voice and his range was not as big as Barry's. I personally always thought his voice was much better suited to songs of his first album, Flowing Rivers. Andy died of myocarditis - which is an inflammation of the heart - on March 10, 1988, 5 days after his 30th birthday. His heart had been weakened by his drug addiction over the years which, by the way, was also the main reason for his split from Victoria Principal. He also had a congenital heart problem that was later also discovered in Barry and Barry's second son Ashley. Try listening to the song Dreamin' on kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3zHc4mBmLiGidk which is kind of a duet with Barry. And here are the 4 brothers live on stage in 1979 doing You Should Be Dancing kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWewg2B7lLatsJI And finally a few photos of Barry and Andy: i.postimg.cc/jS6n3Jkv/Barry-Andy.jpg and i.postimg.cc/TwnPh8M0/82c126fc42a35d3b737867af41338199.jpg and the 4 brothers with their mother i.postimg.cc/FRNMbwkD/b9b2561eadffee11347573c97063c2f8-zpsd89478eb.jpg

Great comment. You must love these brothers as much as I do. I've watched every interview I can find and in one of them Robin said that For Whom The Bell Tolls was written about the breakup of Andy and Victoria and how Andy felt knowing it was his fault but thinking she'd never really leave. She couldn't watch him continue to destroy himself. In another interview Barry said he and Andy had identical birthmarks. Also that none of them could read music. I found both of those things to be fascinating. When I watched the video of Andy singing Words live for a Presidential Dinner for President Reagan and Andy was growing a beard I had to look twice. He looked and sounded more like Barry than I'd ever seen him. Andy also recorded some high range vocals for Queen. I thought that was cool. Enjoyed your comment very much.

Barry,in the middle with the teeth(lol) was 10 and the other 2 were Twins are were 8. They moved to England to promote their career and had their first hits around 1966/ This song was from the record-breaking Album "Saturday Night Fever" which they wrote and recorded many of the sounds in the early 1970s/ A fourth Brother: Andy had a successful solo career,as well. They wrote over 1,000 Songs, often for other famous artists.

This is probably the biggest disco hit ever. It was featured in the movie, "Saturday Night Fever" with John Travolta. Donna Summer was the queen of disco and the Bee Gees were the kings. Some of us older people prefer the pre-disco Bee Gees, going back to the 60s with hits like "Massachusetts" and "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart".

Words. Morning Of My Life. Lonely Days. Closer Than Close. First Of May. Just to name a few of their songs. These incredible brothers have so many great songs you could react to one a week and it would take you years to get through them all. The Bee Gees were established in 1958. Barry, falsetto vocals, is the oldest and his twin brothers Robin, long hair and Maurice, thinning hair and beard are three years younger. In 58 their younger brother Andy Gibb was born and he had an amazing solo career. Andy on the Midnight Special singing, I Just Wanna Be Your Everything. His first three releases hit number one. The song Staying Alive is the first song to use a drum loop. The beat stays the same the entire song and it's 100 beats per minute so it's used in CPR training. Enjoy the amazing rabbit hole of the Bee Gees.

Barry the guy in the middle is the eldest brother Barry. Hes also the only one still alive. Hes 1 of the goat Falsetto singer. The name of the group is pernounced Bee Gs Ya'll should hear the runs he hits in You Should Be Dancing. It has all 4 of the Gibb brothers singing in it. Theyre youngest brother Andy Gibb had a solo career but unfortunately flushed it down the toilet by overdosing on drugs. Barry can so fluidly go from falsetto to his natural and back again.

@LockInFRreal I subscribed based on this reaction!!!! Do more Bee Gees! Sorry this is a little long... The Brothers Gibb (Barry, the oldest & lead here); and fraternal twins Robin, no beard, and Maurice - pronounced Morris). They started singing in 1958-2003. Barry is the only one still living today. He celebrated his 78th birthday and 54th wedding anniversary on 9/1/24. The Bee Gees were MEGA stars back in the day. In this song they were singing in their falsetto (high) voices, but this was not their regular singing voices. And they wrote ALL their own songs. At one point in their career they released 6 straight #1 songs in a row. They were: 1. How Deep Is Your Love (mostly regular voices) 2. Staying Alive (just about everyone on the planet has heard this song in movies) (falsetto) YOU JUST DID THIS ONE 3. Night Fever (All these 3 were from the Saturday Night Fever movie Soundtrack (falsetto) 4. Tragedy (falsetto) 5. Too Much Heaven (falsetto) 6. Love you inside out (falsetto) So all of those are a must to react to. But they had hits before and after that streak. Here are others that are my favorites that you have to react to: 1. You Should Be Dancing (falsetto) 2. Jive Talking (live 1975 Midnight Special) (regular voice) 3. More than a woman(falsetto) 4. Nights on Broadway (live 1975 Midnight Special) (regular voice) 5. Love So Right (falsetto) 6. You Win Again (1987 Dutch TV countdown show) (regular voice) 7. Wind of Change (1975 live Midnight Special) (regular voices) And these are just the songs THEY SUNG! They wrote, played instruments, sung background and produced for OTHER ARTISTS, so please do some of these: 1. Emotions (Samantha Sang) 2. Immortality (Celine Dion live 1997 Vegas) 3. Islands in the Stream (Kenny Rogers/Dolly Pardons) 4. Woman in Love, Guilty, What Kind of Fool (Barbra Streisand) 5. Heartbreaker (Dionne Warwick 6. Chain Reaction (Diana Ross) 7. If I Can't Have You (Yvonne Elliman) 8. Grease (Frankie Valli) 9. Any Andy Gibb record (he was their little brother and had a great solo career)

This song was written by the Bee Gees for the movie Saturday Night Live. It was about surviving on the streets of New York, "whether you're a brother or whether you're a mother, you're staying alive." HUGE hit, as were almost all their songs. I think they had more hits than anyone over the course of their career starting in the 60s. Their songs are different depending on the era. This one is disco.

Interestingly, the beat for "Stayin' Alive" is perfect for chest compressions when responding to heart failure. But then, so is the beat from Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust". The Gibb brothers were three Engish-Australian singers, (Barry, and the twins Robin, and Maurice Gibb.), who first performed as children in Australian talent shows. They rocketed up through the charts across the world. Sadly, only Barry is still alive. (Their teeth were their own).

Disco and the Bee Gees were giant in the mid to late 70s. Only problem is both saturated pop culture and a fair amount of people got sick of it in 78 and 79, which started the "disco sucks" and "disco is dead" movement. I remember a radio dj anouced he would not be playing Bee Gees anymore making the news for a bit. My dad liked them and bought the albums but thought that was funny. Seems like that was in Chicago but I'm not sure. Yeah I probably heard this song loads of time at the roller skating rink for like a year. I was never a part of the hating disco movement, I always liked it and still do. To be fair, by the time I started seriously listening to pop radio, it was the early 80s, so didn't really get exposed enough to it to get sick of it, even though disco was everywhere.

Wrong, as child entertainers they used other names like rattlesnakes...
