I was lucky enough that when this came out, I had an older brother who listened to Fleetwood Mac, The Who, and other rock at the time, but also a lot of funk (Earth, Wind, & Fire ?), and then got into disco, and he never seemed ashamed to listen to any genre he liked. I was a little girl, he was 11 years older. He got saddled with babysitting me Sunday nights when the parents went bowling. Some nights he would sit in his room with the door closed and do his best to ignore me. Watched Monty Python and said it wasn't for little girls and kicked me out of his room, which made me mad of course. But other nights, he'd put on records and we'd listen until the sun went down and we were listening in the dark. Some of the best memories of my life. He was a very, VERY good guy and always a nice brother. At one point in his early 20s, he was actually a disco guy. I have a picture of him looking a little like Travolta. He has the tight shiny shirt and the tight pants with the feathered hair. I can't in a million years imagine him dancing, but he did go out to disco clubs. We kept talking music for many years. (I miss you, brother!)

I may gravitate towards certain genres and I love ZZ Top as much as I love AC/DC, Yes, Lenny Kravitz, Phil Collins, ELO, Little River Band, The Beatles, I mean the list is ENDLESS. The Cars, Radiohead, Steely Dan, The Doobies, David Bowie, The Smiths, Echo and The Bunnymen, Linda Ronstadt, Joni Mitchell…C’mon. @TerryL42115 күн бұрын
This song is originally from the 1977 movie "Saturday Night Fever" starring John Travolta, but was also in Madagascar. The Bee Gees are the Brothers Gibb - Barry (the oldest brother) and fraternal twins, Robin and Maurice (pronounced Morris). They also had a younger brother, Andy Gibb, who had his own solo career. Barry and his brothers were prolific song writers. They not only wrote their own music, but also songs for many other artists. Sadly, Barry, 78, is the last brother left. Andy died in 1988 at the age of 30 of an inflammation of the heart muscle most likely caused by a virus and years of addiction to cocaine. Maurice died in 2003 at the age of 53 from cardiac arrest following surgery for a twisted intestine. Robin died in 2012 at the age of 62 from complications of cancer and intestinal surgery. I really hope you react to more of their music. 💜💜

They all are very different from each other, especially Bee Gees (cause only this band in my list is disco, others are different types of rock) and yet they have great vocalists. P.S. You are correct about Madagascar. It's THAT scene with Marty. I've heard this song for the first time in it as well.

These three brothers made beautiful harmonies, wrote their own songs, and were awesome singers and performers. I have always loved them.

Lots of people deny liking disco... but they do. Disco put out some absolute bangers. It has an undeniable groove you cant not move to. We roller skated to disco. Some people still do and it is awesome to watch.

Wow!!!!!!!! I'm literally sitting in my favorite restaurant and they are playing "staying alive" now while I sip my favorite drink while watching this!! What synchronicity! Totally a 70s groove. I was born in 71 and I loved this decade!!!!! ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
