Welcome to the Wolfpack, Jamie! The song you just watched was the closer of a 2 night concert set from March of last year; marking their triumphant return to the stage after nearly a 2 year hiatus (due to COVID and hiring new bass player Fami.) Both concerts are available on DVD Blu-Ray titled Knockin' at Heaven's Gate. As you slip down the rabbit hole, you'll likely find that their live performances as good or better than than studio productions; but you really can't go wrong either way. We The United is often played as their show closer, as it's just a ton of fun, and considered by many to be their anthem. You'll learn quickly that these ladies are uber-talented musicians. As great a singer that Asami is, it can take a minute to understand her accent, even though she always sings in English. Your brain will settle into it though, and lyrics are sometimes provided via captions. LOVEBITES is known for fast-paced songs with highly technical riffs and solos, but they're not afraid to show diversity by slowing things down with highly emotional ballads as well. Their influences are many, but they display these influences with their own unique touch & spin, making for a fresh sound that sits in the pocket of familiarity while being new and exhilarating at the same time. This is my favorite band, followed closely by Band-Maid and Nightwish. That says a lot, since I grew up in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. For some reason, I would have guessed you had already seen Lovebites. Well, Congratulations! You just found the most talented metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they waited out the pandemic and searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later. They did their first live performances in more than two years in summer of 2023, with their new bassist Fami. Their very first show was commemorated on the DVD “Knocking on Heaven’s Gate”. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing. In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. Their first song with Fami is “Judgement Day” kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2TYeJ2mYrVqeqs The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." @noelle3551 Les Binks?? I'm a huge fan of Scott Travis(saw Racer X multiple times in Los Angeles in 87-88 before he joined JP) but Les is my favorite drummer of Priest. Unleashed showed his abilities live, love his groove ability and his double kick was ahead of its time. Cheers to your Lovebites shows...yeah I'm jealous.🤣

@777Phoebe honestly I haven't got the album yet, heard about 6-7 songs so far. Just heard Crown the other day. It's not bad, Serpent and the King and Invincible Shield are the only two that got me going. They remind me of the second Halford album. It's not grabbing me so far. I'll buy it, and I never missed a tour since 81, but I'm kinda over them. Over 40 year run with me is pretty good. Lovebites is literally the band that gets me excited and puts a smile on my face. Wished that Rob and K.K had simply buried the hatchet...

LOVEBITES was formed in 2016 by Miho(Ba) and Haruna(Dr), members of the band "DESTROSE", which went on hiatus in 2015. I've been listening to metal for 5 decades - Slayer, Priest, Maiden, Metallica, Testament, Anthrax, etc. and all are awesome, but sometimes they miss with a track or even an album. I have some favorites with Lovebites, but they just don't miss overall - they don't have any songs I would not listen to over & over. They are just incredible. If they played in the 80's/90's they would likley be considered 1 of the top 3-4 metal bands of all time (I believe they are the best). Lovebites could cover anything those bands put out, but I would love to see them try to cover a Lovebites track. SMH

Hello. You just watched the best metal band in the world nowadays ( male or female ). Some people say that they’re redefining metal or that they’re breaking the walls of stereotypes in the metal scene. Yes, these Japanese women are extremely talented, skillful, versatile and exceptional musicians. Miho (exbassist and founder of the band) said in an interview that they wanted to play as heavy as men but keeping their femininity.
