Freddie was a huge fan of Aretha Franklin, he loved her early gospel style singing. This song is a tribute to her. You definitely have to check out the live Montreal 81 version, because the band was famous for changing their songs to the live shows and these are really great.

The GOAT...Freddie mercury . I know everyone loved the Montreal live version but man I love watching this old school recording session ...its off the charts ..the timing ..one microphone..just love this old school way queen did it . 🙌

Hands down one of the best Queen songs imo. The whole band is pure gold! And the live videos are even better!! Amazing video! And personally I've never seen the official music so it's fucking awesome to see it now. It may not be reaction vid material but I recommend watching Freddie's doing vocal improv with he crowd. Freddie Mercury used say his favorite instrument was the audience. You get to see some of the best crowd control ever.

I'm a new sub. I love seeing people discovering music new to their ears. Especially when I've loved it for decades. You've got to listen to the live version of this. Montreal 1981. I was at that concert. Only one other concert came close to Queen. Pink Floyd in concert was unforgettable.

Love your reaction but not sure how you can go a year without reacting to more Queen. They are a genre all to themselves. There is so much more by them just waiting to be discovered. Start with this song live in Montreal 1981. Different take on the song. Rarely do the songs sound the same live as the studio version. Queen didn’t want to replicate the studio version because their fans deserved to hear something different than what they could hear on their albums. Take the Queen journey. You won’t be disappointed.

This to me is like Freddie going up and down slides that are floating in clouds of backing harmonies. Like he’s playing in a bubble bath and the rest of the band is singing bubbles, if you feel me. I think Simon and Garfunkel sound the best as a two-man and CSN are great as a three-man harmony but the shit Queen does is just stupid (and it’s usually only the three but when John joins in you can hear it get just a little fuller). Every bit the masterpiece that BohRap is.
