I just subscribed to Bklyn_reau's youtube channel about a week ago but he has rapidly climbed the ladder to become one of my favorite reaction channels!!! Keep up the awesome work, young man! There aren't too many reaction channels who dive right in and react to 2112 so early in discovering the Rush rabbit-hole of awesomeness! I think this young man now needs to react to Xananadu - Exit Stage Left! Can't wait to see his mind get blown by watching Geddy and Alex both playing double-neck guitars live onstage!

Imagine being in your early 20's and already a virtuoso at your craft already. That is what we had in these three members of Rush for 45+ years. We were so lucky to be here at the same time as Neil, Alex and Geddy. Now the younger generations are seeing and hearing what they missed

"Attention all planets of the Solar Federation!" 7 words repeated 3 times = 21 "We have assumed control!" 4 words repeated 3 times = 12 And here's an Easter egg from the title: 2112 is 9:12 PM in 24 hour format, and 9-12 (September 12, coming up next Monday) was Neil's birthday. Okay now, it's time for Cygnus X-1, Book 1 (A Farewell To Kings) and Book 2 (Hemispheres), which add up to just over 30 minutes - including two sections that you may recognize from Best Intro Ever - that will completely blow your mind! Cheers from Canada! 🇨🇦 🎤 🎹 🎸 🥁 🎸 🔥 🔥 🔥

Can you believe just three guys made and played this masterpiece? You did very, well for a first listen, without lyrics, of capturing the essence of the story!! I'm sure others have already said but this album was the make or break album for Rush. They were told to make more radio friendly music or they were done. This is side A of this album. The success of this album gave them artistic freedom to do whatever the eff they wanted going forward. They did that WITHOUT THE RADIO OR MAINSTREAM MEDIA. They seriously grew their fan base by performing over 200 shows a year. And they did that for probably 25 before slowing to 100 per year. They were simply magic together. Thank you for the solid listen and pretty much getting what this song is about. Which isn't particularly easy without the lyrics. So thanks!! You get it! There is no bad Rush song. Different eras will provide you with different masterpieces. My personal fave is Natural Science. 😁

@@Bklynreau As you delve into their catalog, you will notice some major changes in their sound, but they always sound like Rush. Their entire discography is Full of masterpieces. As a fan, it's easier for me to list the one or two least favorite than it is for me to list my favorites in any order. What's unique with Rush is they only got better with age, imo. Clockwork Angels, their last album, is a pure work of art.

Rush's 4th album. Their previous album, Caress of Steel, was a big disappointment to everyone, including themselves (The record company even screwed up and made the cover bronze instead of steel). This was the last album they were under contract for and figured they weren't going to get resigned so they decided to make their "last" album exactly what they wanted it to be without giving a damn. This is what happens when true musical geniuses say "Fuck it" and open the gate on shit. Needless to say, they were resigned with much more leeway in the future. It really gets good from here. Enjoy!!!

On topic: rush as a band are all about music that’s from the heart, and the relationships of the guys in the band. When it was time to record their fourth album, they were about to give up on the record industry, but worse the industry was about to give up on them. They wanted a hit, they wanted a sound like the sound that was making money. That shit just never was or is Rush. They decided to go out on their terms, no matter what the label thought of it. So they wrote a 20 minute allegory about the beauty and purity of music, and the cynical dopes who would scoff at it. Surprise surprise, people ATE IT UP. From then on until Neil Peart died, they had the freedom to make the music they wanted. This is their victory stand.

@@Mike80528 I still have some 8-tracks next to my cassettes, vinyl LP's, DVD's, CED's, Laserdiscs, CD's you name it, I collect and listen to all formats. I restore all the old player/recorders too. I just recently reintroduced myself to rush this past year, and long time fan, but sort of lost track of them in the mid 80s when my life went in different directions and music wasn't at the center of it for a couple of decades. So far this year I've collected Rush albums on remastered 200g DMM LP's; Caressive Steel, 2112, Hemispheres, Vapor Trails and Clockwork Angels. And also Exit Stage Left, Feedback and Clockwork Angels on CD. Almost forgot, I also picked up a copy of Rush Chronicles on Laserdisc for my old Laserdisc player.

This would have been easier to follow if you had the lyrics up. The story is about a dystopian world where the Priests control everything including music, art etc. The fellow in the story finds a guitar behind a waterfall and learns and start playing it. He is excited and brings it to the priests. The priests want nothing to do with it as they say it doesn't fit the plan and they say it destroyed the Elder race which is not true. The fellow who found the guitar is sad and goes home. He then has a dream about the Elder Race and sees their world which is beautiful and full of artistic expression. When he wakes up he is despondent and ends up taking his own life. The Elder race ls not happy with what has happened to this world after they left and they come back to destroy the temples and the priests and they take back control of the planet again. (We have assumed control). This song was a finger to their record company. The record company didn't like the direction the band was taking and refuses to promote their previous record. The record company wanted more radio hits and shorter songs. Rush said NO, they were not going to be dictated to as to what kind of music they could create and wrote this instead and if record didn't succeed they would go back to their old jobs. 2112 was a huge hit with the fans and it gave Rush free rein to create whatever they wanted. The record company never bothered them again as to what they were creating. Hope that helps. Other Songs Natural Science from the Molson Amphitheatre Toronto Digital Man from the Snakes and Arrows tour Cygnus book 1 Cygnus book 2 Hemispheres Cheers

If you watch 2112 in Rio you will discover that Rush did this song 1000x better. You also won’t have to sit though a long drawn out poetry reading. You don’t need to take my word for it. Rush only played the intro at most of their concerts. Even as recent as 3 days ago they only played the overture with David Grohl for a tribute to their drummer. In conclusion, don’t listen to Rush fans. They will always suggest you listen to the entire 22+ min song. Listen to Rush and what the actual band thinks which is to only play overture and the temples of syrinx. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4HFoJp6btqqfLc

I trust what you're saying about them not playing the entire presentation at live shows. Time is precious and people wanna hear "their" song too. But here on the internet, if you "don't listen to Rush fans", you will not gain many fans/subscribers , and people will leave. What's your beef with this reaction? I dont get it.

@@snakeinthegrass7443 Great point. If you don’t do what ignorant Rush fans wish, you will lose subscribers, or not get as many new subscribers. Perhaps!!! However all Rush fans like every song, so I doubt it matters; except Tai Chan, because Geddy gave his approval not to like it. Honestly, there are far worse songs. Rush fans Don’t know what makes Rush great. I want those NEW to Rush to just listen to what I recommend vs what the typical Time Stand Still, Madrigal Rush fan recommends and make the HONEST observation which is the best example. They don’t even have to react to it. Just listen. I NEVER criticize the person reacting to the video, just the source of WHO recommended it. If you liked Muhammad Ali, and wanted someone to react to his fights you would not suggest the times he lost; right? Well that’s what Rush fans are doing to my band; picking the losers…
