Your reactions to the songs are really interesting. I always look forward to updates. The English version of ``Crime and Punishment'' has a more poetic atmosphere than the Japanese lyrics. This tendency is especially noticeable in the intro and outro parts. In the original song, it feels like a list of things that were visible to the naked eye. This is similar to the technique used in Japanese poetry, ``HAIKU,'' in which images, sounds, smells, etc. captured by the five senses are directly conveyed, and the scene is recreated in the mind.It relies more on the sensibilities of the listener. The middle part of the song, which sings about feminine emotions, can be said to be an almost literal translation. Overall, it's an excellent translation, near perfect. Ringo Shiina's original version is great, but ADO's singing style is truly amazing.

@@andi603 　I just read through the lyrics, and I don't think there are any parts that are directly connected to Dostoyevsky's "Crime and Punishment." In Ringo Shiina's original song, a woman feels deep loneliness in a small, run-down room in the city. In contrast, the song also depicts passionate love. If bottomless loneliness was a punishment, then what was the crime that would lead to the loss of love? That part is not written. There is a part that says ``Today too...'', so you might get the feeling that she has been lonely for a long time, but the scene begins with her smoking a cigarette and ends with her throwing away an empty cigarette pack. I feel like there's a nuance here that makes you feel like, "Maybe the guilty part happened just now?" Words like police car, siren, and explosion also add to the tension. Is this “immediately after the crime” or is the trauma hurting? Anyway, it's been a while since I've seen Dostoyevsky's name. In Japan these days, when we think of ``Crime and Punishment,'' it's all about ``Ado.''

Ringo has a pretty hoarse voice herself, let's be honest, or one of her multiple voices is hoarse (as on her 2015 live performance of this very track), but I'll grant you it doesn't get much more hoarse than Ado lol
