The moment where you silently rewind to hear Sara's vocals again while staring the camera dead on is pure gold. SO happy to finally see Ancient Bards on your channel and I hope that they will make some reappearances! One of my personal favorites of theirs is Fantasy's Wings off their latest album. :)

Thanks for another female fronted metal reaction. I’m new to the channel (found you through Julia). Most of the reactor stuff I’ve seen over the last number of months is vocally focussed, but you material is next level, musically. I’m not a musician so I miss a lot of technical aspects when I listen to things. Your observations and explanations open up a completely different perspective, which I truly appreciate. Came for the Nightwish (and UTA, as a proud Canadian) but will be staying for the rest. Thanks for all the work you put into these high quality videos.

Someone else finally getting to Ancient Bards!!! One of my all-time favorite bands, they get looked past way too much. Her voice is amazing, the double bass is infectious, and the storytelling within the songs is just incredible. I can’t sing their praises enough, I’m so glad to see them starting to gain recognition!
@billattercliffe86553 жыл бұрын
Chase, have you reacted to Anette Olzen in Dark Element yet? As soon as I heard Sara sing, I thought of Anette as they have a similar forward placement, nasal twang in parts of their songs. It would be nice to give Anette a little shine outside of Nightwish.
@FemaleMetalLover3 жыл бұрын
Yes, they have both very warm knife-edge cutting voices, perfect examples that not every singer needs to have an operatic or growl type of voice to be a genius in knowing their instrument in and out.

I got to see them live in a small club in germany back in 2014 with like 6 other people. There were many concerts in town and they just weren't enough "well known" (pardon my english) We all felt very sorry for them because we knew what crowd they should have gotten but we also got to hang out with them and have some beers afterwards. Best night of my live! I am so happy to see they still kick ass and become more and more popular.

Ancient Bards is one of the most underrated power/symphonic bands. Sara's voice is incredible, and they are all amazing musicians (I love especially the bass solos, which are quite rare in this metal genre). Check also the Birth of Evil (1st song of their 1st album), or the ballad In My Arms.

Ancient Bards has fast become one of my favourite bands. Their latest album in particular, Origine, is absolutely phenomenal, with a tragic story told throughout. I'm a sucker for narrative style bands. The cheesier, the better.

And there is "Light", "Impious Dystopia", "Birth of Evil", "Soulless Child" and so on, the problem is to find a live recording that is not monstrous audio quality... maybe you should do them in official videos... or figure out a way to check sound quality in advance without runing the experience.

Studio is amazing, but Live is always the next level. But the best thing about Ancient Bards - they use EVERY member to the fullest and give moments for everyone to shine, plenty of bass, guitar, keyboard, and drum solos - combined with Sara and choirs it cannot get any better. I have never been much for reaction videos. I watch them on occasion... but, honestly, I'm not about a reaction. I need more than a mere reaction. Therefore, I have never subscribed to a reaction channel. Until now. Your analysis is great. In this song, I couldn't help but think as I am hearing the female vocalist that she has a voice that would fit a country song. The twang, the timbre. Of course, you come up with the same statement two minutes later. Because, that's what you do. So... some recommended bands that I have not seen as I went through your videos... Also, could you please check out the "This is halloween" cover done by Simone Simons (Epica), her husband Oliver Palotai (Kamelot) and their son. It's really fun and an awesome family project. Very talented bunch there. Wonderful breakdown by you as always. Maybe I'm too old, but I just don't like growls in my metal. Or at least have the growls be smaller, short, accent bits that do not overpower the instrumental sounds, like we see in unleash the archers. Again, this band is talented, just those growls kill the song for my personal tastes.
