She debuted at *thirteen* (she was like 2 months off her 14th birthday - international age) under SM and she's still there and is a director in the company. She's a soloist that was born in 1986 - but she debuted so young that she's a sunbae to everyone of her same age. She's also an undisputed amazing dancer.

BoA is the ultimate Idol of Idols. BoA's talents are unmatched. This is why SM Entertainment selected her to become a trainee when she was 11 or 12 and why she debuted when she was only 13 years old, because she is so amazing. BoA is one of the originals in the Kpop industry and one of the first to do almost everything, and she did it all as a solo artist without the help or support of a group. Can you believe that BoA debuted in 2000? -- which means she has been in the industry for more than 20 years now and she is only 34 years old. :D She was one of the youngest artists in the industry when she debuted and she is now one of SM's longest held artists. She started under SM and is still represented by SM. So she has been in the industry for more than two decades, and, yet, she is still younger than a lot of artists who have come after her. She is now one of the top selling artist in Japan. She was even one of the first Kpop stars to release an English album in America. Her English song "Eat You Up" was pretty popular and even made it on the American music charts. She was one of the first Kpop artists to chart in the U.S. -- the song actually was played on some mainstream U.S. radio stations. If you haven't already, I recommend checking out her MV for "Eat You Up" it's pretty epic and her dancing is so iconic. Fun fact: If you remember, in Taemin's song "Idea" the female voice you hear saying, "Killing me softly" is BoA. LOL You should really watch an episodes of the variety show "Happy Together" (Ep. 569 with English Subs) which featured all of SM artists such as BoA, Key from SHINee, Baekhyun and Sehun from EXO, Jaehyun and Taeyong from NCT, Comedian Lee Soo Geun and MC Jeon Hyun Moo. Wow, the dancing was fantastic in this video. I agree with Jeremiah, the lift was fabulous! As an ex-dancer that is a difficult lift and she and the people lifting her pulled it of perfectly, especially standing in water. Also the camera angle was perfect to pull off the "levitating" illusion. ;)

BoA Kwon bridged the way for Korea to hit it in the Japanese market which was done with "no. 1" and after that it's history. SM was looking for someone to be the best singer for Asia, to make it in the Japanese market and other markets ( including the US) back in the day and her brother I believe had her audition. That girl carried SM entertainment on her back for a long time, now shes a part owner. She deserves it man. God Ive loved her since 2000. She was a huge part of my childhood growing up in New York and new jersey.

Yassss BoA!!!! *correction* QUEEN BoA ^__^ She introduced me to kpop here in America a little over 15 years ago! MTV debut her music when they used to play music videos like all night and early in the morning as I was getting ready for school and I was mesmerized! From there I never looked back. I'm 30 and still love kpop just as much thanks to this Queen! Glad to see shes still killing it. You guys should check out her song Camo and then start from the beginning in order of everything so you guys can see her age and music progression. I get so nostalgic in the best way possible. ^_^

If MJ was reincarnated in Korean form BoA is the first that comes to mind lol. Not surprising considering she is Bonafide MJ superfan!! But to call BoA an idol would be a supreme insult. Girl literally was the first Korean artist to break the notoriously difficult Japanese market. At a time when there wasn't social media, cell phones, KZbin or Twitter!! That in itself speaks to a different breed of K-Artist here. Which I don't see as much in Korea but I know that exists. Yoon mi-rae, Lee Hyori, Jessi, Ailee, Lee Hi I'm talking to you ladies!!
