Look into the lyrics of all of their songs. They are all profound. They had a bass player who was in a car accident and left in a semi vegetative state, and they wrote this song for him, because he loved the waves of the West Coast and it was one of his favorite places to be and he was an avid surfer before his accident. So they wrote the song as an expression of how he felt about the ocean. So many people won't listen to this particular song because of the title alone. This is why I suggest for people to look into your songs and see a deeper meaning. RIP Chi❣️

This song comes between "Rocket Skates" and "Risk" on the album both of which are heavier songs than this musically. This song brings down the energy after Rocket Skates (which I think should have been reacted to first imo) and sets one up nicely for Risk which is heavier but also has more of a melodic feel.

For this song, you have to be in the right mindset going in. I was working out in Sac, CA this past week and thought it was only appropriate to throw on a Deftones playlist on the ride home. I’ve been a pretty avid music fan my whole life as well as a Deftones fan, but only heard this song for the first time on that drive back. I cannot describe the feeling I got as I was driving through these windy roads as the sun was setting. I’ve been unable to get this song out of my head ever since. Your perception of music largely depends on the environment you’re around. If you’re not ready for it, a gem like this might pass you by.
