This was hilarious. You inadvertently gave the biggest complement imaginable to the Tool fans. Jordan was jamming with a song, not recording it in the studio, and everything he's doing here is more musically sophisticated than the original. The man has forgotten more about music theory than you will likely ever know.

I think loosing their original bass player to a reallt tragic accident after their fifth album had an undoubtedly serious impact on their sound. His bass playing and approach while very understated was fundamental to their groove and vibe. I think they're still making amazing music but their sound had to evolve and i think later akbums tend to take repeat listens before they get you in the same way their stuff did. I'm not sure its worse just different. Also the mix is not quite as perfect as earlier albums.

What you have to understand is, The Mars Volta is Omar’s and Cedric’s band, Omar’s in charge musically. While Omar wanted the Thomas Pridgen drumming on Bedlam that you’re familiar with, Pridgen’s drumming is much more laid back and traditional on the 2nd Mars Volta record he was on and on the multiple Omar solo records he played on. The primary difference on those records and Jon Theodore’s work with the band is that Pridgen always has a more defined kick & snare drum attack sound, while Theodore is more going for the Bonham sounding kick and snare ghost note sound.

My younger brother loved comic books while I studied electricity and gasoline engines. I had little hope for my bro. I acquired journeyman status, earned degrees, and taught college. Young bro went to law school, aced it all, minored in math, got his JD & BAR, and brilliantly defended either side interlacing Shakespeare and using all the logic from the comics to win.He was also an amazing guitarist, and he is black. I love tool...

Animals as Leaders is most definitely an acquired taste. The more you listen to it, the more you can identify, the better it gets. It is alot... thats sort of the point. Its some of the most interesting music out there now (imo).

The band heard a story about a young man who took his life because of bullying. They were one of the first ones to do it and I think they deserve credit. so this is based on actual events and your bias is meaningless, have what little heart you have left and excuse your astonishingly stupid criticisms

I see the problem. Your drummer thinks he’s a musician. If you can’t enjoy jam bands, and music for the sake of music - you need to stick to industry formulas and keep painting by color while the real artists do their jobs.

that's the most obnoxious reaction I have ever seen))) dude, the whole purpose of Drumeo is to put drummers out of their comfort zone, making them play music they either don't know or are not familiar with! You could have said: I don't believe she is genuine and left it to that, but nagging for 5 min ( that's all I watched from your reaction) like a whiny woman with questionable morality is way too much. Are you sure you are not a woman down there, given the tantrum you threw...one can never know in these modern times

I love this band. I listen to this a lot of the time. The energy and complexity that they play with is soothing. It releases my energy that is inside and allowsit to flow out of me. It makes me feel relaxed. I find grooves and rhythm very easily. It may help if you listen to it with speakers so you can feel the music. Let it surround you. I listen to it on my lunch breaks at work. The complexity and speed of the music makes me feel happy and motivates me to move, or just chill and relax. It depends how I am feeling. If I have frustrations, it makes me relaxed. If I am feeling energetic and working out or going on a bike ride, it amps me up. I feel like if you relax your mind, it is easier to digest. Cheers 🍻

Primus is an acquired taste, but speaking as a musician, I think you’re over analyzing. And Les Claypool is doing more stuff on bass that most people have done in their lifetime.
