Metalhead here, too...grew up with Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Dio, etc. This song is REAL country, which is far different from the stuff they pawn off as CW today. "Man of Constant Sorrow" is closer to "cowboy" music, some of which I find pleasant. Strong Celtic influences, and Celtic translates well to metal.
@Frostrazor
@Frostrazor Жыл бұрын
@@noahmercy-mann4323 there's a reason for celtic influence. Traditional bluegrass country music is rooted in European folk music due to the migration of Irish and English and German immigrants who settled in the south after Civil War. Which is why alot of bluegrass country sounds like a Polka.

Where have you found that has actually competed in and won beat boxing competitions. I've looked a few times and not found anything saying he won a competition. Home Free is incredible. Everything they do is great. And although they are a Country A-cappela group, they can really sing all genres. They really all have great voices with their own specialties. Even Adam Rupp who started the group with his brother Chris Rupp. Chris left the group in 2016 to go solo but also to start other projects with his sister, among others. Adam Rupp-Beatboxer but is actually an inhuman freaking good mouth artist. Tim Foust- Deep bass but also as a tenor and everything in between is possible. Austin Brown-High tenor with his great runs and high notes. Rob Lundquist (beard and glasses)-Tenor, with a voice like velvet and so much soul. Adam Chance (back left, who is called Chance) - Baritone/ Bass, a voice so smooth and sexy. And who here also makes the Jaw harp sound. There is no lead singer in Home Free. They look at every song whose voice suits it best, the best harmony, no egos, no rivalries, great personalities etc. Besides, they can all beatbox (see their live performance 9to5). .. This is one of the many covers they do in addition to various originals, and each one is just amazing. Take the time to discover Home Free because it will be a great journey. For me they are number 1 A-Cappella group

Sweetie, with this group, you get all genres - can't go wrong with their originals or covers. Everyone's offering suggestions, but my first choice for your next Home Free reaction would be "Everybody Walkin' This Land". It's not the most complex musically, but the message is heart-felt and the harmonies are outstanding. Also give "End of the Road" a go - Sean was one of their mentors on The Voice, and they definitely did the song justice without making it an exact copy. Please let yourself fall into this rabbit hole - you won't be disappointed!

The original was written in 1913. So the one in O Brother Where Art Thou is a cover too. Many, many covers of this song exist. Home Free is indeed an a cappella band. Everything done with their mouths. They are all amazing singers and all take the lead depending on the song. They won the NBC show the Sing Off in 2013. They also write and sing their own songs. Try Helplessly Hoping, One Man Band, Brothers in Arms, Giving Up on You (with Texas Hill).

This song was published in 1913. That was when Dan Burnett put it to paper and published it, but he did not write, create or compose the song. It is an old American Folk Song that he had heard sung by musicians but it was learned by listening and recreating it individually, which he did while also putting it to paper. He then published it & was able to make money from it. Although it was not his originally.

Great reaction! New sub, came for the Home Free! Welcome to your Home Free journey! 5 of the most talented guys in music. They are individually incredible singers and together as a group they are phenomenal. They do all genres of music, not just country. Even though they are considered a country acapella group. Members are 1st guy who sang was their tenor Austin Brown if you would like to hear him in lead in different genre check out their cover of When a man loves a Woman, 2nd guy to sing guy with beard and glasses is Rob Lundquist who is also a tenor. To see him sing lead, check out their cover of the Boys2Men End of the Road, that Low basement bass guy is of course their bass Tim Foust ( he has a 5 octave range) so his voice is versatile, he sings lead in his low range on their cover of Dire Straits Brothers in Arms. The guy in the back with dark beard and hat making the jaw harp sound is their baritone/ bass is Adam Chance he also has crazy range and honey smooth voice. To hear him in one of their humorous vids check out their cover of Dire Straits Workin for a living. And in every video they do, they have their champion beatboxer/ vocal percussionist Adam Rupp. He is what us Home Fries (Home Free fans) call the human drum kit! He is amazing. If you want to see him by himself check out his drum solo video on you tube ( the one with red flannel shirt. You cannot find a bad song with Home Free. They are talented, humble, humorous and love what they do, and love their fans. And we love them right back! A couple of more to check out their covers of Justin Timberlake's Can't stop the feeling, the O'Jays Love Train . Well I've rattled long enough. Oh my goodness. I love this group! They started out in 2001 and one of the original members (the beatboxer) is still in the group. They won the Sing Off in 2013 or 14 and the rest as they say is history. They can be hilarious or make you cry. There is no lead singer. They choose who will sing lead by what fits the song best. They have probably at least 200 popular videos to choose from and probably 300 out there. They did cover Boys to Men's 'End of the Road.' They do lots of covers but lately have been doing lots of original songs. Their latest album has 14 songs and all but 2 are originals. They have videos out for half a dozen of them now I think. The videos from when they were on the Sing off are GREAT to get to know them. If you watch them watch the ones were you hear the judges evaluations. They have a huge and super committed fan base called Home Fries. I'm a bona fide Home Fry.

A note I have to add after seeing that someone recommended Everybody Walkin' This Land: please, please keep watching the video until the patrons names start to roll. I don't know about Pentatonix, but with the other 2 of the top a cappella groups, Home Free and VoicePlay, as well as their members who also record outside of the group, Tim Foust (bass), Austin Brown (tenor, main singer here), and Geoff Castellucci (from VoicePlay), they sometimes have some more to show us. It could be a few moments of the video's outtakes (The Butts Remix) or a heartfelt message for the fans. the three groups are friends and often work together in one way or another , like a member of one group appearing in another group's video, or doing some arranging for the other group. It's all amazing stuff. and while I'm thinking about it -- No, that's not a Kentucky accent you're hearing from Austin Brown. He's a total Georgia boy, from Tifton.

And there's that Home Free smile. They have a ton of videos to choose from and you can't go wrong with any of them. But I would recommend The Driver or How Great Thou Art. Happy listening.

Ahhhhhh! Adam Rupp's No-Monica! Impressive right? They lean country but can do anything. I know you have developed an ear for Dolly so I think you may like their version of Dolly Parton's 9 to 5. There is a studio version which is great but there is also a live version with a beatboxing break down that is phenomenal. Just look for Home Free 9 to 5 live beatboxing breakdown. Well worth it!

Home Free started as country, but have branched out into most genres. "Try Everything," "Butts Remix," "Brothers in Arms," "Crazy," and "How Great Thou Art" will give you a nice beginning sampling :-)

The original was done in 1913 and the original title was “The Farewell song” done by Richard Burnett. It has been done multiple times… One of my favorites is Bob Dylan’s rendition…but there is sooooo many versions since the original! I absolutely LOVE Home Free’s version they keep the Original feel of the Blue Grass sound!!! Just perfection!!

This song is from the 1920's. If you want to hear another version, the Darling's on Andy Griffith show in Mayberry performed it for TV. Home free always rocks whatever they sing.

Alison Krauss sings "River In The Rain" from the Tony award winning musical "Big River" written by Roger Miller. It is the single most beautiful song ever. Alison has 27 Grammys and sang "Down To The River to Pray" in "Oh Brother Where Art Thou." She's the singer with the band, Union Station who were the actual Soggy Bottom Boys. Home Free has a lot of great songs, but "Unchained Melody" is stunning.
