How unbelievably lucky I am to have been born in this blessed era! We are living in the time of a true genius, the Mozart of our century: Jacob Collier. Every note he touches transcends human comprehension, every harmony he crafts redefines perfection. To witness his brilliance is to brush against eternity with every listen. I can only be in absolute awe of such a musical miracle!

Please jump down this rabbit hole, he is truly brilliant. A good place to start is his Grammy winning arrangement of ‘Moon River’ (he was eighteen at the time), or his more recent Mahogany Sessions recordings of ‘Little Blue’, ‘Summer Rain’ and Björk’s ‘Hyperballad’. He won Grammys on all of his first four albums and was called a genius by Quincy Jones.

By the way, one should eventually read about what or especially who you're listening to. The choir is one of Jacob's absolute favourites, the Aeolians of Oakwood University. I guess they've well deserved to be mentioned..

He wrote this piece the day before they recorded it in 2018. He didn't premiere it until Sept 2023 at the Kennedy Center. I was there. It was the first time I'd heard of him or seen him live. Best concert of my life by far. Changed my attitude about young performers. But this is NOT his typical work which is sort of jazz influenced pop to crazed advanced level harmonically. He also plays a couple dozen instruments and mixes his own music whether soft a cappela or high energy world/hip hop/rock/jazz/whatever. How crazy is it that someone who's been around for 12 years since he was clearly a prodigy at 16 is still unknown by so many? The other song getting lots of reactions lately is his duet with Aurora for Greenpeace. He's nominated for 3 more Grammys including best album and both A Rock Somewhere and Bridge Over Troubled Waters from that album could easily win more. Here he is with Dodie and Laufey just before the night I saw him at the Kennedy Center, leading an improvised audience choir. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gquUfXiPrauEa7M

If you are not familiar with Jacob Collier...legendary music producer Quincy Jones has said of him: "I have never in my life seen a talent like this." He is a composer, producer, singer who plays multiple instruments at a virtuoso level and has been nominated for 15 Grammy Awards, winning 6 with 3 still pending. If you want to know more about him, the BBC aired an excellent documentary on Jacob and his remarkable career so far: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4PZlWiHn9qjibcsi=BHUf2fG3IOLh2mpq Have fun!

Amazing reaction. Jacob Collier is definetly a person, who basically always makes masterpieces, so I would have a little request for you: Bridge over troubled water covered by jacob collier - definetly one of my favourite peaces of him

Be sure to listen to more Jacob. His album Djesse Vol 4. is up for a Grammy in 2025 for Album of the Year! And yes, this is on that album.

Yes, Jacob Collier is the creator of this piece. All harmonies are pure so he can run down every key, without being bothered by the well tempered tuning. Jacob probably made a demo singing all the parts by himself as he did on Moon River. You might want to listen to that grammy award winning production as well.

My favorite comment from you was in regard to the voices sounding like an organ. My highschool band instructor always used the reference that when an ensemble does everything right it will sound like a single organ-ism or entity and that entity will in fact sound like an organ (instrumental or choral). The Aeolians of Oakwood University have indeed been one of the finest vocal ensembles in the world the last few years. I really am challenged to think of another group that could pull Jacob's composition off in this way. Both he and them seem to really have a sense of how vibration deeply effects the human experience.

Wow That was impressive 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 This sort of reminded me a bit of the song that Lord Of The Lost (German Gothic Metal band) did with their hometown choir. Senior citizens singing in The Heaven Can Wait Choir. (Aptly named 😂) Chris Harms, vocalist, dedicated it to his parents, thanking them. The song is We Were Young. Just beautiful LORD OF THE LOST & HEAVEN CAN WAIT Choir - We Were Young (ZDF-Version) (Official Video)

Maybe react to a few Jacob Collier videos? Once you've heard his cover of "Moon River", you'll 'get' why he can write pieces of music like "World O World". His cover of "Moon River" is his voice. No pitch correction, or autotune. He had perfect pitch to about 5¢ and sang that precisely. His orchestral 'magnum opus' cover is Lionel Richie's _All Night Long_ kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKTToox9r5KNZ9U 7m:20s orchestra, three choirs, Jacob playing several instruments, his bassist Robin, and a couple of people you might know.
