I can totally relate to your comments about them saving 2020. I've been a fan since they won "The Sing Off" TV program back in 2011, but when they started releasing music this summer, I dove back in and never looked back. They literally saved me from despair over and over again since the summer and I get to discover reactors like you. They *never* disappoint.

Kevin's voice is so sweet, can you believe he didn't sing before joining PTX? Avi started teaching him when they lived together after winning the Sing-Off. I heard someone say he felt like he was letting the side down by not being able to sing, but given how much he loves music I imagine he was probably just super into expanding his abilities (especially as he apparently has perfect pitch), and wanted that extra level of versatility so they could do songs where beatboxing wasn't needed.

within the last 5 years I have become physically handicapped/disabled and through all that whirlwind of bad news, and devastation in my life, PTX has been the shining light through it all and I love them for it. I always love to watch the reaction to Kevin's solo near the end! What a lot of people don't realize is that we've already heard him singing at the very start of the video. That high "oo-oo-oo-oo-oo"--the very first voice we hear--is also Kevin Olusola, the beatboxer.

This was the very first Pentatonix video I ever saw back in 2013. Was suggested by a co worker. I had no Idea that she was standing behind me and pushed me into the rabbit hole when I watched, I never want to get out EVER! Kevin's voice does hit differently, esp in this one when it came out it was one of the first if not the first where he had a singing part so it was also very shocking. I had always expected kevin to have a baritone or bass and that high tenor is crisp. Also when Mitch sings low in Amazing Grace it makes Kevin's stand out even more

Kevin- I consider him as someone who cannot be replaced. Great reaction! I'm very grateful you have reacted to this song, because now I think you might be ready for something different! It's true that Pentatonix is one of the strongest A Capella groups, but right in this year- 2020 I found on KZbin another music group which cover of Mary, Did You Know? was inspired by cover of Pentatonix. If you will be able to check out Mary, Did You Know? by Halocene then I'm sure you won't be disappointed. ;)

It is funny that you often comment on Scott taking the lead. He does quite often, but what is easy to miss is how seamlessly they slide from lead to background and back again. Sometimes it is a single line in a verse. This used to befuddle sound techs in early live performances on TV shows. One of the songs that highlights this particular talent of theirs is "Mad World". Merry Christmas! PS, I don't know how old your daughter is, but she might enjoy their Sesame Street counting song, or Wizard of Ahhhs with Todrick Hall.😊🎅

I completely agree with you about this group and 2020. Even though they're from my home state of Texas, I had (embarrassingly) never heard of them until the pandemic started. I was supposed to start a new job in a limited partnership with a brand new company in April, but the pandemic caused the company to go belly-up. I have been out of work for more than a year. I am completely out of money, as my bank account is empty. I am probably gonna lose my home. And my elderly father passed away in August, leaving me the last survivor of my family, so I am experiencing the holiday season completely alone. Yet, discovering PTX this year has actually given me new hope and faith. Their music has touched me in a way more profound than any other group or artist ever has. Thank you PTX.

Did you know that Kevin Olusola (the beatboxer from PTX) has his own channel where does his own solo work? I'm not sure if you've reacted to anything yet but I think you'd like it. Definitely check out his cover of "Down". He sings, beatboxes, plays the cello, celloboxes (cello+beatboxing) and the ending is just draw dropping! Please check it out! The first time I ever heard Kevin sing a solo was in this song. I love his voice. So sweet and "innocent" and unexpected when we are so used to hearing him as the rhythm. You should check out his solo work especially KO's cover "Down" simply amazing!!

I felt the same way! But at a later point, with MItch singing "is the great I Aaaa-" But, of course, that's why we watch reaction videos--because the reactor has never heard it before. So, these poorly timed pauses are just going to happen.

I don't know how I missed this video on your channel. So sorry! I resisted listening to their version of this forever because I've heard this song done to death by every-freaking-body. As a singer it's a song I've begun to dread at Christmas because I know I'm going to have to sing it at some point. PTX saved this song for me actually - their version is the *only* version I like. They do an incredible job - as always - and I love that Kevin has a chance to deliver some of his sweet, pure high register.

Hi Bayo. I think I am attached to you at the hip. I have followed Pentatonix from their performance on the TV A Capella talent show that was called the "Sing Off". Even then, they were just insane as far as creativity. Just nuts. Bayo, you have an advantage over many people because you have this comprehensive understanding of music. It is easy for you to see the talent and the creativity, which is sort of off the charts with this group. It is basically Scott who is mostly responsible for the creative ability. I would almost call him a Prodigy. They are just so detailed and sophisticated in everything they piece together . It is like musical art ear candy. Just like you, I sit there and shake my head ?
