Researchers did a study on Freddie Mercury’s voice. His vibrato was faster than anyone else they tested. He also used not just his vocal chords but the ventricular folds in his throat to sing subharmonics. That’s how he was able to create a unique vocal print that sounds angelic to us and allowed him to sing 4 octaves. By 1979 he’d developed painful vocal nodes from singing rock since he was 12 years old. So for his last 12 years it hurt to sing but it didn’t stop him. He was the legend of rockstardom.

Freddie & MJ admired each other. MJ got the whole "one glove" thing from Freddie (who was doing it way back in the early 70's) and it was Michael who advised Queen to release "Another One Bites the Dust" as a single (& it turned out to be one of their biggest hits). They recorded together but very briefly. MJ wanted his llama in the studio & Freddie found it hard to work like that (I kid you not). I've only been watching your reactions for a short while (& enjoying them) but now that you're doing some Queen I'll be sticking around for sure.💙

Most of today’s “artist” “forget” that it’s the crowd that feeds there energy... if you have the crowd singing with you or even just bopping to you then you want to go to next level.... He would warm the crowd up to get them going, look at Upchurch, Metallica, Michel Jackson, Tupac... they are the people, they are fans living the dream.... the best athletes play better because of the fans, they play through the pain for them, why.... because they don’t want to let there fans down, those that support them no matter how they play.... they lift others up to superhuman abilities...

#NoLifeShaq You really should make an exception for Queen @ live Aid, let that be your one "40 minute" reaction. Why? because its THE performance of the decade, and to Queen fans, its the best performance of all time, any band, any style, anywhere. A quick "guide", its the biggest benefit concert ever, world wide that day, and Queen is playing for 72.000 people in London (many of them, NOT his target audience, note this, its very important), and an additional estimated 1.9 BILLION !! people across 150 nations, during a Global live television and radio broadcast. Trust me, that 25 minutes, are a big... really big deal and you CANNOT ignore it.
@wolf762x51
@wolf762x51 4 жыл бұрын
And it was broadcast worldwide live, the first time that technology had been used for anything of that nature, and never before or after for such a monumental event. They really didn't know if the tech would work all day or if it would have a lot of transmission issues. Then, you had Phil Collins play in London, and take the Concorde to the US and play here on the same day. Every band that played was fantastic, but a lot of the major acts were last minute things, and a few big solo acts didn't have time to get their bands there. David Bowie got there last minute, and couldn't get his whole band there. He went over to Thomas Dolby and grabbed him and got him in the helicopter and took him with him to play synths. Bowie went over the Chord progressions in the helo with Dolby, and they got in about 15 minutes of practice before they went on stage. These guys were tremendous talents.
@j0hnn13K
@j0hnn13K 4 жыл бұрын
@@wolf762x51 yeah it was, what you could call, a magical day. Top acts, top talents, reunions we'd never thought to ever see happen (Led Zeppelin for instance). The organisation set themselves an impossible task, and somehow, they pulled it of. And it became a benefit concert that will forever be part of recorded history, and will forever live on, in the minds of those who saw it that day.

I wouldn't call it the performance of the decade. That is selling it way to short. It is THE performance. That 25 minutes... I wish I could have experienced it live. At the time, they were playing live for 1 in 3 people on the entire planet. At one time.

@@mycroft16 I did split it up as us Queen fans will automatically rank that performance as the best ever, but for others, i can imagine they feel others deserve that "best of all time" label. But i do think they too, will have a very hard time finding anything better from that decade hehehe

Exactly! And he is an amazing singer, he barely missed a note as far as I've seen, and I've seen many lives. He is always on point and sings his parts exactly how it should be, helps Freddie when he's in need - cuz Freddie always gave 120% live and his voice could not really take it sometimes, like in this performance, when there was longer vocal back up from Roger, Freddie made it a little lighter, didn't push himself that much, because he could always count on Rog. His back up vocals in Somebody to Love are GREAT. And there were times when he was picking up over Fred when the man was too exhausted to sing anymore. Queen was one heart and one soul. It still is, just one soul slightly away. But the heart of the band lives on.
