The group is a German metal band, the song is essentially about a man who is un-loyal to his wife, I theorize it’s probably because the man is afraid of commitment and being tied down, as well “Du Hast Vicc” translates roughly to “You have me”

The song is basically bros before hoes. They are speaking German, and the internal struggle of settling down. Du hast Mich mean "you have me" while du hasst much mich means "you hate me" and it's about how easily relationships spoil. Till (the singer and lyricist) makes it pretty clear to the end when he asks if he'll stay with her until death, even in bad days. The genius of his "simple" lyrics is that you can also understand the last lines because of how it sounds to say will you love her even after the death of her vagina, which would have been rather scandalous to put on US MTV in 1998... if it was in English. More than 20 years later and nothing goes harder than Du Hast.

Literally, "Du hast (mich)..." means "You have (me)", which makes no sense whatsoever of course in English with the me, also not for the German listener at the beginning because you'd ask yourself "What is it that I have done?". This is cleared out at the final part of the sentence "Du hast mich gefragt", which means "You asked me", which then makes sense in English. However, as others pointed out, "Du hast" can also be understood in German as "Du hasst (mich)", as he deliberately pronounces it in the way that it can be understood as hasst instead of hast, which then means "You hate (me)". However, it wouldn't change the topic of the song at all as that translation also fits to its topic. The question that was asked, which is the refrain of the song, is basically the question a priest asks you when you marry your SO "will you love her and take care of her and stay faithful till death parts you", or however it is usually said in English, to which he replies "No". That is the whole translation. Enjoy!

Rammstein is totally a rabbit hole worth going down. I'd also suggest the videos for Amerika, Deutschland, and Sonne.

Great reaction LayedBak. Honestly I 100% recommend checking out Du Hast live in Paris. It’s phenomenal especially with the amazing crowd. Also another great live performance is Engel

I remember when I took German in high school our teacher played this song and I thought to myself alright Miss Jensen!!! Of course our assignment was to interpret what they were singing but still thought it was awesome to play this in class.
