Nmixx's concept revolves a lot around "change-ups" and many switching genres in their songs, which initially wasn't received well by the kpop community. at the moment though, it is now pretty much loved by many, this is what makes them iconic and distinctive as a group. when you hear them say "NMIXX!" or "change up!", get ready for a switch up 😅

Honestly getting into NMIXX like that I don't feel like anything could have prepared you for the classic 'nmixx change up' to this I mean the beat changes and when you're watching one of their Mvs you feel like you are watching several completely different videos because so much be happening... Names: Haewon (leader), Lily (oldest), Sullyoon, Bae, Jiwoo, and Kyujin (maknae) As you saw already, Jini is a former member and she only had two projects with nmixx. She left the group in December of 2022.

NMIXX is meant to be taken in through their live performances. They are at the top for live vocals, and recently blew up in Korea through their viral university tour moments. I actually hated their debut 0.0 for the longest time, but I kept watching their live versions of it. Their performances changed my mind on the song. I'd love a format where you check out their MVs, and then follow it up with either a live performance OR a STAGE practice. That's where they do a dance practice but sing it live with only 1 area mic. It was a think that Itzy started, and got a lot of praise for (check Itzy's stage practices too!). They say, NMIXX is the underrated 4th gen best vocals. NMIXX also has depicted themselves as the comedic type of girl group with crazy, chaotic and likely all extros and active members. Lily is also Aussie. 😅 Also for the XG content. XG depict themselves as XPOP, NOT KPOP and not JPOP. I personally consider NMIXX to be the current “apex predator” for kpop live stage performances. Due to (c) concerns, you may need to just check them out on your own, or on Twitch, but there’s an endless wealth of outstanding concert and TV show performances, especially covers of more technically challenging songs from Western singers. I’d recommend diving in with their various K-Con covers. Their cover of Seventeen’s “Aju Nice” is probably my most replayed video(s) (from various fan cam and official angles) of 2022. For live performances of their own songs, JYP’s been posting official recordings from their performances at university festivals. And don’t pass up their “JYPn Qualifying” series of pre-debut videos. It’s rare to see pre-debut idols already performing so self-assuredly. (Since these are JYP-hosted videos, they’re safe to react to.) Their acapella album teasers are also knockout showcases, and have become their signature. Before the group members or band name were even revealed, they were being teased and marketed as “your next favorite girl group.” Well, despite a bit of a rocky launch, they sure have been slowly but steadily earning that reputation.

The nursery rhyme is "Frere Jacques, Frere Jacques, Dormez Vous" NMixx is arguably the most physically talented of the JYP girl groups. For context, when they first debuted, they were treated like this big mysterious experimental concept that JYP heavily marketed as "inventing a new genre" that they coined as "Mixx Pop", which is the whole mashing-different-genres-together-with-change-ups thing. Could be argued that it was a lot of hyperbole and buzzwords, and it was initially negatively received when O.O debuted because some didn't find it cohesive and there were some plagiarism accusations/Coke product placement criticisms. I think it even got labeled "the worst debut in K-Pop" by some (which never made sense to me). Most people seem pretty onboard with it these days, though (and the buzz it generated did help make a name for them), and people seem to retroactively like that song again. Aside from that, Haewon and Lily are really funny, and people often say that Sullyoon looks like if Sana and Tzuyu from Twice had a baby.
