I think my jaw dropped twice over the years of doing first. To the best of my knowledge the first Swerve out there was Chief Delphi in the late 90's. They had 2 swerve modules and two casters (back in the Basic Stamp Days). It was under shrouds so no one could see it until the comp but once the match began everyone started saying " I think 47 just went sideways?" It pretty much kicked off the innovation. The other was early 2000's Team 71 I believe, the 'beast' used a walking drive with 'file cleaning cards' as the feet. It was banned after that year since it could ruin the carpet field but it was 100% unstoppable. That year you had to get the field elements down to the other side of the field. It would dart to the center of the field upright on 2 wheels then drop forward onto the feet for the rest of the match. Two of the most innovative drives I had ever seen. Also back in the day you had to buy all your parts on the robot from the 'Small Parts' catalog which made it even harder to be innovative.

Carpets getting destroyed is a brushless motor issue not a tank issue :(

Carpet getting destroyed was a metal on carpet problem, not a brushless problem. Now the only issue is how much the walls are smashed in.
