Nice review. I’m a Beta guy, have owned a ‘16 300 RR since new. Beta did almost everything right with the 200 RR. The motor is absolutely magical. Before I got my 300, I spent 6-7 years on a 92 KDX 200. The Beta is the modern day version of the KDX, so stupid easy to ride with great power every single place in the rev range and tons of low end torque compared to a 125, but in a lightweight 125 frame. It is so much less fatiguing than a 250/300 on a long ride. It revs out happily and sings and pulls in the mid all the way through the top end. The OC Sachs is also very good in stock form compared to previous years. I’ll be switching to a 200 RR here on the East Coast when money allows.

Yeah the 200 RR is a great bike. I've never ridden a KDX 200 but have nothing but great reviews on that bike. It's the ultimate compliment to have someone compare it to the KDX 200. I know people today who still have, ride and swear by the KDX 200. I have a 2015 KTM 150 SX and I put the engine from my 2004 KTM 200 SX in it. I love that 200 cc engine...well actually 193. I test rode the 200 RR the 1st year it came out at Beta's Demo Days. I was very impressed. It has alot of low end grunt for a 200. It lugged very well and it suited my riding style. I lugged that bike in 3rd gear all around the enduro loop. 2nd gear was too snappy and it would want to launch off the track. I was really impressed with it. Lugs like a tractor and you could wind it up and rev it the moon. I would buy this bike if I didn't already have a 200 cc 2 stroke. I usually by my bikes used and the 200 RR is so new that's not a reality. $10,000 for a dirt bike is a little steep. Maybe onmce they've been out for a little bit and can get one used.

I own the exact same bike and can confirm seat concepts high profile seat makes this bike a lot more comfortable and was one of the first things I purchased. A bit pricey but well worth the money.

The race editions actually aren't half bad at the mx track. I don't know about hitting triples, but they do perfectly fine on practice days.
@UPSHIFT_ONLINE Жыл бұрын
Agreed! We run the clickers in a little bit, but perfectly good for practice days. Our days of triples are behind us anyhow.

Is the race edition's suspension not as good on the trail? Or on the hard Enduro stuff?

I have owned a 1990 Yamaha DT200R for many years. Also have a 2019 Honda CRF450L. I'd think the Beta would be in the middle of the two models? My old DT200R is so fun on tight root infested trails. It has just enough bottom end to be useful and unintimidating. I think my next bike will be a 125 or 200 c.c. two stroke. I like the oil injection and electric start. Good review.

The DT200R is a great little bike. You are correct the 200RR would fall in between... lighter and more nimble for sure.

I'm a 56 year old. 190 lbs 5ft 9. Second year racing Florida hare scrambles. I'm a middle of the pack B rider on my 2013 ktm 250 xcf. How do you think this would feel like for me coming from my bike? Would it compete well in these races? Would it be more or less tiring? Mostly flowy quick turns with slick roots, sand , sand woops, some mud and some open field sections. Everything except elevation changes, and rocks. It's tough to make a decision on a bike without being able to demo. Thanks, Paul

It really depends on how much you are really getting our of the 250. If you are ringing it neck and tapping every bit of it's power and riding really efficiently you would be hard pressed to be faster on a 200. However, there is definitely a case to be made for the 200 in your scenario. As the saying goes "slow is smooth, smooth is fast" and the 200 just might help smooth things out and let you use more of the bike without sapping so much energy.

It doesn't have enough turn radius it doesn't make quick left and right turns the fork stop and triple clamp hits the radiator

What do you think how maintenence is like on these 200s? How long does 1 top end last?
@UPSHIFT_ONLINE11 ай бұрын
So much of that depends on you. How much are you ringing it's neck. How dusty is where you live. How particular are you about maintenance? With that said, you should be able to get a lot of hours on one of these 200's. They are not super high compression race motors. But we haven't been able to rack up those kinds of hours to tell you either.

i am a novice rider 40 years old who is buying a 2021 beta 250rr i want to be able to ride mostly woods but hit the track on occasion is that just a total pipe dream ? and thanks for any input
@UPSHIFT_ONLINE3 жыл бұрын
It's not a pipe dream. It simply becomes a matter of what your agenda is on the track. If you are hoping to be competitive, you won't be. If you just want to go to the track and put in laps on an open or practice day... no problem. It will be very soft for the track though so you will want to be mindful of that. That can add an element of danger as you start to rider faster and harder on the track. Just have fun.
@jcsquared11113 жыл бұрын
@@UPSHIFT_ONLINE got it !! Thanks 😊 don't envision me trying to hit 40 foot triples at 40 anyhow lmao. And worst case I just upgrade the shock and forks on it. Or buy a used mx bike for tracks a this for woods.

are these much dif than the older ktm 200 exc?

Quite. Oil injection for starters. Engine mapping options. Much better bottom end... lug better. Definitely a refinement from the KTM 200s.
