Trek’s new Fuel EXe mid-level assist lightweight electric bike is as innovative, progressive, and futuristic as they come. They claim its weight, lack of noise, and natural ride feel removes the divide between MTB and eMTB. German robotics manufacturer TQ and Trek have partnered to develop the Fuel EX-e’s motor. This new motor system features a unique way to transfer its 50 Mn of torque and 300 watts of peak power to the drivetrain: a harmonic pin ring transmission.

Nice review. Loved that you also included the crash:) I am so excited to see the evolution of emtbs nowadays. Maybe next year will be the year it finally will be worth changing out my levo with a lighter more playful bike. Like this new Fuel EXe:)

I have the rail 7 and love it. Tried the Fuel today and its nice however i find it underpowered a bit. Wish they would have make two versions 75nm with 450watt battery would have been amazing

XX1 on this bike is way overspeced. If I bought the highest spec, I'd immediately remove the drive train and put it on a XC build. Who is really counting grams on a trail EMTB? XO1 maybe, but I would love a build with GX AXS and Fox Factory. Would love to see an AL version like the Rise Hydro. Also, could we avoid the 1 piece bar/stem? I hear TQ (the motor manufacturer) is going to be working with other bike maker. Would love to see this motor or the Fazua on the Orbea or some of the other manufacturers.

I’m in my 60’s and would probably consider an ebike if I had somewhere to ride it. Ebikes are not allowed on Pisgah or even the Dupont state forest trails.

Yes after riding ebikes on trails where it’s legal, Pisgah is a perfect place to have one, they are so much fun and do not damage the trails any more than a normal bike. My enduro bike weights almost the same as the fuel exe too. Really just people are afraid of something new, after riding around the world on both types Pisgah and DuPont would be great opportunities for people to enjoy who want to ride more miles and smiles in a day. Been riding MTB since the early 90’s and MTB e-bikes are the future for a lot of us. Love riding my steamer but its nice to have the option when your a professional and have limited time. 2cents

Because the Rail uses the Bosch system ? TQ display not compatible with Bosch ?

Yeah but then you're riding dirt bikes and going to the gym... You could also buy a car, a jetski, or a street bike.. For the specs it's pretty much inline with their top teir regular mtbs..
