“New mid assist category”?? Same battery as the Orbea rise, 10nm of power less and around the same weight and price so I’m not sure how this is “new”? I do absolutely love it though. I haven’t even considered a new bike since owning the Orbea Rise until now.

I've just pressed the button on a Rise M10. Though I would prefer the compact motor design and its aesthetics (not sure I'm that bothered about the 10Nm less power) at the £7.5k price point you get a hell of bump in components on the Orbea and you can customise it out of the factory. If I had not committed and wanted to wait I’d be looking at the Transition with the Fazua motor for aesthetics, but as someone else said further up the thread there is no reason for E-bike not to have an integral gearbox.

I was wondering how long it would be after the leaked photos came out that Trek would reveal it. Looks like a great build, though the Orbea Rise, Transition Relay and Pivot Shuttle SL have 60nm of torque. If you're buying into this segment for the first time, i think it doesn't matter too much, but coming from a 35nm Turbo Levo SL like me, I'd probably be inclined to go with he higher torque bikes. Then again, you can't discount the value of your comfort on the bike, and that might be more important at the end of the day.

Great to see the improvements in emtbs. The simple control with prominent Walk Mode (vs the awkward placement on Specialized) and ultra quiet motor are excellent. While my Turbo Levo has some sound (unlike the screaming SL or any Shimano), even quieter would be nice out in the solitude of Vermont’s maple jungles. As for 50nm, I’m averaging just above that on my daily rocky technical mountain rides (80nm is my trail mode max, 90nm reserved for turbo), so 50 might mean I’d have to work the gears a lot more. I’m a believer in heavier powerful bikes that don’t get bounced around by every root or rock, so a lighter bike might be okay. And finally, not sure i want all the display info - less is more - just need 10 battery levels and every thing else in my pocket on the phone where it doesn’t distract from the ride. Of course, just my opinion on what I like for my kind of riding - your mileage may vary

They wont tell you all the bad stuff about a bike because they're getting paid to talk about the good stuff.
