How do you like my vintage GT restoration?! Should I keep it or get rid of it and move on to newer and better things?! Needs a new fork or rebuild obviously

That GT cleaned up nice! I like old bikes. I enjoy your riding commentary! Sometimes I turn up the volume, close my eyes and play is he biking or making love.😅

Thanks, glad you like it. Oh my goodness, you cracked me up with that comment! Haha. I apologize and will clean up my commentary in the future since this is a family friendly channel!

Great find! I still own and ride my STS 1000 that i bought new in '98. Enjoy brother!

Oh no way! That’s the bike I first saw that I fell in love with back then. I couldn’t find any used ones in my budget so settles on the LTS. Wow, incredible you still have it and ride it! Thanks for sharing

Mad fun on the 26ers. I'm with Ricardo, upgrade the fork or completely overhaul the existing one!

Thanks yeah we shall see what i end up doing. Thanks for advice!

I still love 26ers, and scouring the world for a 2000/01 Schwinn rocket 88 for a restomod build. New school parts on old school bikes work just fine in my experiences so far. Modded a 1996 proflex 856 last year with fox float fork, and 1x drivetrain, worked surprisingly good.

Nice, thanks for sharing. I’ll keep my eye out for a schwinn rocket 88 for you! Oh wow, a pro flex! I remember those! The guy that introduced me to mountain biking had one for a time. Cool lookin bikes. Yeah maybe ill just get a modern fork for it and keep riding it. We shall see
@mikejones4205 ай бұрын
@@BikingRoots guy who introed me to mountain biking had a proflex as well, he had the 756 I think it was, and yeah throw a old school bomber z1 on your GT, and a 1x microshift, and you will love it.

Evan, how are you? Not sure if you remember me from highschool or not. I am getting my GT lts 3 back this week and started looking at restoration videos. After watching yours for a while , I was like, this guy looks familiar! Hope all is well!!

Hey man! Oh my goodness, no way! Right when I saw your name, I was like, "that name sounds familiar" then I saw your comment. Ha, no way, crazy... Even more crazy that you are apparently restoring an LTS! That's awesome. How long have you had yours? Where are you living these days? Hope all is going well

hey! i only have 1 question, what is the best fork i could put on my marin bobcat trail 5 2024 and what modification i would have to do to replace the stock fork? thx! love ur vids!
@BikingRoots5 ай бұрын
If you wanted to do a higher performance fork like the marzocchi z2 or new rockshox pyslo which have tapered steerer tubes and boost 110 thru axles, you would need an ec adapter which is an external headset adapter to use a tapered fork. I dont have the exact name of the one we recommend right now. You would also need a boost adapter kit from problem solvers which would allow you to use your existing wheel but adapters to compensate for the missing 10mm. (Bobcat 5 has 100mm wide axles.

@@BikingRoots do you have certain brands you would recommend for these 2 ?
@BikingRoots5 ай бұрын
@@WilliamTrent-k1n either one is equal in my opinion in performance so whatever you can get the best deal on. They recently updated marzocchis so the old ones had been on crazy clearance sales

Yep it is. First trail I rode when I moved here back in 08. Lot has changed over the years

@@BikingRoots only been there and cypress creek, any other trails you recommend around Houston for a beginner?
@BikingRoots5 ай бұрын
@@ismaeladame3492 Timberlane is a fun one that is beginner friendly (similar to cypresswood) not as difficult as Cypress creek. Flintridge/George mitchell preserve is also fun. Also called the SCNT trail (spring creek nature trail). no features on that one just many miles of single track through the woods. Thankfully for beginners, almost all of our trails have a majority of beginner friendly trails with maybe some features you can just ride around and not be forced to do. Our beginner trails are much tamer than probably any other part of the country! If you don’t have trail forks, mtb project I think is another option to find trails. On our website we list them out and have more updates and pictures coming soon. Almost all the trail groups have their own facebook group
