Thank you Julian for the review. I agree that superview looks best. And like impressed how camera picks up your voice and minimizes the wind when you speak. I am jumping from 1 Hero 5 sessions tot the GoPro Black 12. The action cameras take filming to another level compared to IPhone 12Pro for action.

If you are upgrading from a Hero 5 to a Hero 12 you are going to see a huge difference in every respect.

Audio sounded fine in all three actually knowing you were cycling with a lot of wind. Surprised actually. I also agree that in wide you get the standard GoPro “style” so you don’t have to swap lenses all the time. I am on my first GoPro and bought the 12. I have now ordered the Max Lens Mod 2.0. I will be using it for horseback riding which has some similarities to cycling so your review and comparison were very helpful.

Great review. Superview is definitely the best IMO. I've done bit of testing too. MLM hyper has a huge field of view, but way too much fisheye. MLM Superview is actually quite a similar FOV to regular hyperview, from my tests, it captures more on the sides and a bit less on the top and bottom. But MLM Superview has very little fish eye and it keeps the shapes well, as apposed to MLM Hyperview and especially regular hyperview giving everything a shortened/squished/stumpy shape. The squished shapes occur mostly on the edges of the frame and i guess it's from trying to add more from the top and bottom into the frame

Max Hypersmooth looks great when looking forward (classic POV filming). I agree that when pointing at you it's too much. Maybe the solution is to have two cameras with Max Lens Mods. One pointing towards you using Max Superview, the other pointing forward using Max Hyperview! Full disclosure: I work for GoPro OT: the houses in your area are massive! Here in the SF Bay Area those would cost an absolute fortune, and be on small parcels of land.

This is perfect, thanks for this. I get your opinion on Wide being not much better than Wide without the MLM, but I like how little distortion it has while still offering horizon lock. I really appreciate the comparison video and honestly I was super impressed with the audio. Really good for a windy bike ride!

The stability of this set up is amazing especially with MLM2. The audio surprised me, I am convinced it is an improvement to the Hero 11, I’ll do some tests in the coming days

I think switching back and forth between superview and hyperview without you in the shot would be very cool - also I saw someone online start the GoPro in the vertical position with the hyperlock on - that too looked amazing - good luck - #1 review

Funny - I have an electric bike - I can go 25 mph - my bike has 2 Bose Resolve Plus Speakers - my GoPro records cover songs - in real time - my music is LOUD - I must wear ear plugs

The key is to start the Gopro in the vertical with the horizon lock on - for Facebook Reels - I get all the #1 music for 90 seconds - Thanks

I’m torn between the GoPro H12 and the DJI Action 4. Your H12 videos look great. Noise doesn’t seem to be too bad.

DJI make great drones but I have no experience of their action cameras. If you already have a GoPro then it would be easier to just add this to the same ecosystem of mounts, batteries and app that you have already. If this is your first action camera you will not make a bdad choice with either the Action 4 or the Hero 12. Personally I would still opt for GoPro simply because they have been doing this for a long time and their cameras are rock solid and great performers.

@@hitnofireflysQuick answer is no. There is no option to select HDR or the LOG profile when the Max Lens Mod 2.0 is used.

This is a 'No but' answer: GoPro Hero 12 will not record in LOG when you attach and select Max Lens Mod 2.0. But... if you are using Hero 12 with the GoPro Labs firmware then you can set LOG to work with MLM2.0 If you are familiar with GoPro Labs this will make sense but if not, it is GoPro's own beta program that extends the GoPro camera's capabilities beyond its stock features. Fore what I do with Hero 12 and MLM2.0 I am not using Labs but if you want LOG when using MLM2.0 that's the best way to do it. Hope this helps!

It is very well suited to a POV angle for biking, probably even more so in the woods on an MTB. It was running 4K/24 Protune natural color auto WB auto shutter medium sharpness and no raw audio.
