@ThisIsJulianC3 күн бұрын
I'll trail run with a short pole but I never use a camera when racing. X3 is a good 360 camera but the reframed footage resolution was rarely good enough to use IMO. X4 is still not 4K when reframed but at approx 2.7K (depending on how much you reframe) it is much better and more usable.

I'll be traveling to Peru in late January to early February and heading up north to our family's beach house. I will be getting the a7CR and the Sony 16-35mm F4 PZ G lens on loan from Sony. The other lenses I'll be taking will be my Sony 24 1.4 GM and Sony 85mm 1.8. I do own the Sigma 50mm F2 Contemporary and MAY bring it as well but really trying to stay compact with the three aforementioned lenses. I own the a7iv and a9iii but excited to give this camera a rip and love the size and weight of the 1635 F4 PZ G - I've found I don't really need the faster aperture of the GM but am attracted to the smaller and lighter GM2 1635. Honestly, I doubt I will invest in the a7CR as my travel camera, despite helping keep a small and light kit but I just love how my a7iv feels. I've owned the Sony Zeiss 55 1.8 [twice] and like you said, always found it to be a bit too narrow, but the size, weight and IQ, it def fights above its weight class [albeit with some CR in images but easily addressed in post. I plan to create a review of my experiences with the CR and 1635 PZ - I plan to capture some time lapses of the beautiful sunsets above our beach house on this small mountain, along with great photos.

My Garmin Virb Ultra 30 is a bit clunky with the cases but I love the native Ant+ integration. Think I have 3 or 4 floating around with plenty of batteries but overall I don’t think people or business upgrade their GoPros every year imo. GoPro should have diversified into other tech long time ago. Bring back the drone and offer a regular and a pro version. Gimbals, a watch, a scale, Bluetooth speaker, bigger mirrorless cameras, home automation with a premium line etc
@ThisIsJulianCКүн бұрын
There is more that they could do with the brand for sure. The Karma drone dented the bold confidence at GoPro, and absorbed a lot of $ too. If GoPro acquired and integrated a drone tech company then perhaps they could build a credible alternative to DJI. For consumer drones there isn’t a real alternative to DJI right now.

RF glass imo is excellent but I cannot resist the bargains to be had in EF. 24/1.4 L II, TSE 24 L II, 100-400 L II, 200-400 1.4x L all within the last year or so and I might get the 16-35 and 24-70 2.8 zooms and the 35 & 85 1.4 primes. For me, eBay is my jam. Only RF I have is the 600/11 and it’s light and quick to zoom and having used most of the full frame bodies and the marvellous 100-300/2.8 I really think one can stick to EF L glass in most cases and just upgrade the mirrorless bodies. I think only now Canon are making more interesting lenses, such as the 24-105/2.8, 100-300/2.8 & the 28-70/2, now they might be worth while. Don’t get me wrong; most the RF range has IS now and focuses lightning quick but I don’t need that right now.

Agree - the RF lens range is shaping up very well, but the EF L bargains are still worthwhile.

You got a great deal on the lenses for sure. The 5DIV is an outstanding camera but today I think I’d only buy it for nostalgia. If I was you I would get the R6II. The EF lenses will work well with it, and it will serve you well for a long time. You can use either EF or RF lenses with it, the 5IV will only work with the EF lenses. You would not go wrong with the 5DIV but I would get the R6II. Hope this helps, let me know what you decide

I do Triathlon as well. Can I download a workout from my coach - Training Peaks into the unit and do it?
@ThisIsJulianC13 күн бұрын
I understand you can but I haven’t tested it. Try this: * Use Garmin Connect Calendar sync Enable this feature in TrainingPeaks to automatically sync eligible workouts to your Garmin Connect Calendar. Then, when you sync your Garmin device, it will automatically download the workouts. * Use Garmin Connect AutoSync This feature allows you to sync workouts directly from TrainingPeaks to your Garmin device through Garmin Connect. You can also manually transfer the .fit files but that is a clunky approach. Hopefully the above works.

@ThisIsJulianC15 күн бұрын
Hi - I couldn’t make full sense of the translation of your question so I’ll answer what I think you were looking for - if you are walking with GO 3S in the action pod, you will have more than enough battery life for a one hour walk. If you are using the camera without the action pod, the battery will last just over half an hour. Hope this answers your question.

Good review Julian. I own the Neo as well; portability, ease of use and tracking capability are incredible. However, image quality is almost putting me off to use it. By the way, I see you filmed on Action 5. Do you replace Osmo Pocket 3 with Action 5 for walk-and-talk videos? I was under the impression you really liked Pocket 3 for walk-n-talk style.
@ThisIsJulianC20 күн бұрын
Thanks. Agree on Neo video quality, it is compromised vs all of the larger DJI drone. I prefer to use Pocket 3 but when traveling super light… and when it looks like it might rain, Osmo Action 5 is proving to be a good choice. There is a video on this topic in the works right now

Using the g lenses are all cropped ? So when your using apc lenses doesn’t that make you shoot only 26MP? So you’re not actually getting 61 MP photos ? Am I wrong ? Am new to Sony and just trying to learn
@ThisIsJulianC21 күн бұрын
All the lenses discussed and shown in this video are Sony FE mount, meaning they are full frame lenses, not cropped. If you use APSC lenses on A7CR then yes you will get a cropped image at approx 26mp.

Looks like the 47 is roughly the same chassis with a different lens and maybe a few features missing. I was considering it and the kenwood. Is it fully functional without connecting to the app ever? I essentially want to get by with never installing an app on my phone. Not even one time for a start up procedure. Would this be a reasonable option with Garmin? Also, do you leave the camera in the car 24/7? Just curious how it holds up to extreme temperature changes. Here it gets insanely hot mid summer.
@ThisIsJulianC24 күн бұрын
I do not use the Garmin Drive app, last time I opened the app was to make this video. I do have it on my phone however, in an accident it will be quicker to copy the footage off of the camera if the app is already set up. Other than that I think you can get away without needing it. My truck is in NC, gets super hot here, never noticed any issues.

I’ve now sent my 7 pro solar back to Garmin, the HR function has never worked correctly, it stalls at around 110 bpm, even when I wear my HRM Pro chest strap (paired), it has worked periodically in between updates, Garmin tells me this is a known bug they are trying to fix, they are only exchanging it due to the connection issue with the chest strap, other than that I do love the watch, but I use it mainly for the HR function which is frustrating, my Instinct doesn’t seem to suffer with this problem, that’s what I’m wearing in the meantime.

To me one of the reasons to choose Canon over other brands is the ability to use EF lenses on modern state of the art mirrorless cameras like an R3, a huge range of DSLRs, and even film cameras. Yes the RF camera will need an adapter, but it will autofocus that EF lens from the late 80s as good or better than any of the canon cameras that came before it.
