Regarding your drop on No. 12. The nearest point of relieve from the path would've been 2 ish feets deeper into the bush. If I recall correctly the ability to play the ball from that lie has no effect on where you have to drop the ball for relieve. Correct me if I'm wrong.

“Could’ve farted on that and it probably would’ve reached” Peter Finch - 2024 KZbin gold right there 😂
@thomasspangenberg53287 ай бұрын
Pretty sure you messed up that drop for relief from the cart path. You are obligated to take the nearest point that gives you relief from the cart path, not getting to repeat that process to the point where you can get a decent swing on the ball. Rather than doing what you did and taking like 2 clubs back from the ball since you claim the cart path still interferes after your first dop, you probably should have either gone only 1 club back or 1 club to the left. Either one of those might have had you dropping into or directly behind a bush, but I think that's only what the rules entitle you to. From that point, you might have had to take an unplayable, or try your original crazy backhanded idea.

Well played, some really excellent golf ahead I reckon, now you need to peak for that PGA Tour 'qualifier'. You asked for comments about the drop on the 12th, looked fair enough to me. However, the 6 you marked yourself down for on the 6th hole was incorrect, you had a 7 there. You lost the ball over the green with your 2nd, didn't walk back to save time, no problem with that as we've all done that in a friendly game. You then chipped on and called that your 4th, but its stroke and distance so that was your 5th shot. Then 2 putts for a 7. I know it doesn't really matter and I'm being pedantic but so many beginners do not understand this, so may as well set an example.
@frog22107 ай бұрын
Hole 12 was a 7 wasn't it? Drive / Penalty Drop / Punch to fway / Iron to green / 3 puts = 7. You hit the ball 6 times & took a penalty drop for an unplayable lie. "if the interference only exists because a player chooses a club, type of stance or swing or direction of play that is clearly unreasonable under the circumstances you are not entitled to a free drop." Hmmmmm. 🤔

Hi Peter, I'm new to golf (30+ handicapper), but can you help me understand why the tee shot on the 4th hole is only assessed a one stroke penalty? Maybe a little too much aggression, too much pin hunting. Trying to shape draws into little greens with no room for error cost you at least three shots that I saw. Play the percentages. Not as spectacular, not as heroic, but the chances of a birdie putt on a green in reg is much higher than a chip from off the green or, gasp, taking a drop from an unplayable lie. Simple shot construction will beat "workability" every time. (Workability is pretty much needed when you put your last shot in trouble, ain't it? When you are middle fairway, your workability needs are significantly reduced.) I understand that a +3 round on a difficult course that you've never played before is pretty good. Managing the greens is hard when you have no experience on them, and missing the little designer traps hidden all over the course becomes almost impossible without course knowledge. I'm pretty sure that you would play well under par in your next round on this course. You've got this, Pete.
@davidkelly82077 ай бұрын
Not sure if it’s already been said, but you don’t normally get the option of dropping a ball from bushes at the back of the green (apologies if I missed and explanation). It’s a long walk back down the fairway, being cursed by everyone else for not playing a provisional 🤫
