Just realized you can hear my 7 month old son cracking up in the background. Lol. Hopefully it’s not too distracting.

Never would of started hand sharpening 7 years ago if it wasnt for you. Your tutorials still today are the best out there.

I almost always watch your old vids when they pop up in my recommended feed. Your perspective and wealth of info has been very much missed in this community. Would love to see you make some new material! Hope all is well

Thanks man. I think about making videos from time to time but then I stop myself because I feel like I don’t have anything new to say. There’s so many voices out there now!

I've got a regular production version of the Paramilitary 1, with the dlc coated blade. I also have the foliage green g10, d2 blade version. Personally, I never liked the para 2 because the 1 was an iconic knife in my eyes. Something about the blade to handle ratio just made this knife look tough to me. Both of mine are smooth as butter, and lock up like a vault. Great video to show Spyderco history. I guess I know what I'll be carrying tomorrow!😎

So happy your Tannerite video showed up in my feed, I thought you had stopped making videos because I haven't seen one for a year or two. Come to find out somehow notifications had been changed to "Personalized." I corrected that to "all" pronto, glad to see you're still here!
@jdavis8824 жыл бұрын
Interesting! That video seems to have found its way into a lot of people’s feed for some reason.

It’s nice when these rare gems go to someone like you that will truly appreciate them and keep them in pristine condition. I would give my left nut for a new in box Microtech mini socom elite, but I doubt it will ever happen lol.
@jdavis8823 жыл бұрын
I’d also love a mini socom elite! I’d love if they made a mini socom delta too. But yeah, I definitely plan on keeping this one pristine. I love historical objects in general, but especially when it’s knife related.

Sick. I came into the knife scene after the PM2 was already a foot hold in the community. I had heard of some of the improvements they made, but never seen one of these. Thanks for sharing!
@jdavis8824 жыл бұрын
I came in about 2009 and I’m pretty sure the para 1 was already out of production at that point also. I posted this up on the spyderco forum and got confirmation that it’s one of the first off the line. The number of knives made with the full cutout on the tang was very low. Stoked to have this one!
@VincenzoNero944 жыл бұрын
Dam that cool! I use to have a para a while ago. I remember i use to get a hot spot from where bottom part of the handel handel kicks out. sweet piece of history though

Before jimping was a thing...
@jdavis8824 жыл бұрын
It’s got jimping up top, it’s just very coarse teeth. If you’ve ever seen sand tires on a dune buggy, the treads are like big scoops. That’s what the jimping is like.

I think I've owned like 3 paramilitary 1's over the years... Ive yet to own a para 2. I dont know why but I just prefer the 1 even tho Ive never handled a 2. Only bad thing is if you need something replaced on the 1 spyderco does not have any parts available.
@GerstBladeworks2 жыл бұрын
Are you still around ? Knife community needs you here on KZbin! It's nothing but Bs about how smooth your blade drops nowadays 🤣 nothing about steel chemistry, different techniques, etc. It's out there but not like you did it !

So different that it’s almost foreign, right? We have to remember that it’s 16 years old though. A lot changes in that time! At least for spydero. I know some companies who haven’t changed a thing in that time.

7 to 9 videos a week huh? Well buddy it’s been over 3 years now sooooooo?
@jdavis882 Жыл бұрын
It’s so hard for me to make a video now. Every time I think about making one I just feel like I have nothing to say worth recording. There’s so many good knife channels now that I probably don’t have anything worth adding to the community.
