First Salt Slam in the Chassahowitzka 2019

Pointed the Tunnel Hull North to the Chassahowitzka NWR looking for a Redfish, Trout & Snook Slam!! Running from one potential spot to another with the Fish scattered as usual. Flipping a Weedless Softie & the Mirrodine Twitch bait I managed to find the Finns Chewing on this trip up North!! Take a ride to the Refuge...Enjoy!!

This slow warming trend has all the local critters starting 2 chew & the T's have left the warm rivers & are starting to show up every place I go in the back country so I have 2 keep an Eyeball open 4 them!! From a slam standpoint if it's three different species that are unrelated it's a Slam....I don't know how many Trash Slams I've gotten over the years....Well it's the weekend...Time to go Hook Something in the Mouth....Sea Ya!!

Brother Dunne....Thanks!! I know the name is Indian named by the Seminole Indians during the Seminole Wars between 1835 to 1852 & means hanging Pumpkins which is an Xtinct species as far as I know!! The Refuge is truly a paradise with very limited access!!

My biggest Red was 35" & I think that was a fluke because by then fish that size have left the Inshore waters to join the offshore breading schools. Mostly I never sea one much over 30" these days....Our legal slot is 18" to 27"!! Glad you could stop by...Have a great weekend!!

Awesome day of fishing as usual! I got to watch a Manatee in an aquarium and they are like dogs 😁 It was playing with a stick, too funny. Those last 2 reds were real beauties. I caught one for the first time this summer that was a nice one. Got him on an ultralight rod and reel with 6lb line and I thought he was going to spool me but I eventually got him in. That was a lot of fun. They are incredibly strong fish for sure!

The Fishing Hobby....Thanks!! This was my first Slam of the year & my PB Spotter...It was just an all around good day in the Refuge!! I come in contact with dozens of the T's every year...I really have to keep an Eyeball out for them because the majority of them are Cows with a calf in tow!! I tell you a Bronzze Bulldogg is a strong fish on light tackle...I didn't give them that name for nothing!!

BBQ PIT DOG....Thanks!! I've been waiting about 6 months for all the locals getting back into the feed & with the rising water temps now at 77 degrees they are starting to chew!! When you have 25 miles of remote coastline that's only accessible by water I consider myself in Paradise!!

Alan Scott....Thanks!! This time of year when the water temps start to rise the Inshore bite can get reel good. The Back Countrey waters are now at 77 degrees which has brought the Manatees out of the Freshwater Rivers & into the deep creeks & the Finns to start chewing!!
