First Session on the 02 Switchblade

My switchblade finally arrived and I got the chnace to give it a good test run! Some small changes in the bridle has made this kite even more user friendly and forgiving for big air. Personally, I like my FX2s, but when its blowing over 35 im out there on my switch!!

I like when you are on full length lines. Kite seems to fly like a switchblade… good to see. I have a 2020 12m and looove it so much. There was some traffic in those awesome conditions.

Hey thanks so much! Even if it’s a bit light, Cape Town never fails! Haha I have a bad habit of kiting way past sunset. Always gets interesting when you can’t see the landing too well!

Ahah awesome! So stoked you’re having a good time. Learning kiting can be really frustrating sometimes, you just need to take things slow if you get tripped up. Once you do a jump that tops all your previous ones I think you’ll really be addicted! Keep it up, kiting won’t let you down! P.s. if you’re having trouble along the way don’t hesitate to ask! Amazing video man !! What do think of the Switchblade for looping, everyone on my spot says its not a good looping kite, i ride one,really like ir for now, and want to start getting into kiteloops, what do you think. ? Thank you

Hey Lorenzo! What size do you have at the moment? I really enjoy the switchblade for it's big easy jumps and very stable (but heavier) build. It all depends on what size you ride and the wind conditions... For getting into loops I would reccommend a 8m or smaller kite (preferably 7m or 6m) and riding a bit underpowered (like a 7m in 20-25 knt) Personally the hardest part for me was when I was jumping higher and looping, but coming down hard and not being caught by the kite and I found that if I went from an 8 to a 7 I could do a better takeoff even if I couldn't jump as high, but when I looped, the kite came around faster and caught me. The switchblades loop great in smaller sizes (6,7 and 8m) but the bigger sizes are quite slow and sometimes take too long to loop around, especially if it's not that windy. The FXs are great and loop super fast with a great catch, but if you make a steering mistake it will drop more than the switchblade. I would reccommend either a 6,7 or 8m switchblade, or 7,8 or 9m FX. Both kites are great options for beginning loops and both are great loopers in the 7 or 8m sizes. If you get the chance, try out an FX and switchblade in the same wind to see the difference before you buy!

@@camdynkellett6782 very nice response! I'm currently also in the same situation... like the sb, but wanna do kiteloops. And scared for the big loop and slow climb time. What would be a safe height for a 7, 8 and 9m to catch you? I got 12 and 9 currently, I sold my 7 cause I found it too nervous as a size, thinking about getting an 8 now. Is the chance to be caught on the 8 that much lower than on the 7? Tried the fx 12m but didn't like it, too deep in the window. Didn't get a chance yet to try the moto, maybe that one is easier? Haha

switch VS rebel duotone, who has the best hang time ?

Both models jump really well, I find the switchblade easier to get big jumps while the rebel really jumps high but only with a good takeoff. They are both great options, each kite has a very different feel so if you get the chance, I'd try out both the kites to see what you think! It could be the best kite in the world, but if you dont feel comfortable on it, it won't do you as good as something you feel confident riding!

Yeah man, crowded Cape Town gets like that! This session was with a bunch of friends so we were all comfortable with eachother doing that. Generally at this spot the aim is big air so the guy who's jumping kinda has the right of way while the other kiters are kiting upwind for their next jump. It's a respect thing, if I see someone heading towaward me, aiming for a kicker, I will do whatever I need to do to let that guy jump, and when it's my turn, he will let me jump! I don't get that part on video much!
