First Sikh Marine Graduates from Marine Corps Boot Camp in San Diego....!

In a historic event, Golf Company at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego graduated the first Sikh Marine to complete recruit training with his articles of faith. Pfc. Jaskirat Singh finished the 13-week transformation and graduated on August 11, 2023. Congratulations to all the Marines of Golf Company on their graduation, and best wishes for their follow-on training.

Our country was founded on freedoms. The first amendment is one of the most important things we have as a nation. Theres no reason why religion should hold anyone back from serving his or her country and protecting the freedoms that we cherish. This young Marine did everything he was supposed to do, and didnt get any better treatment that anyone else. Theres no reason to hate on him. Just remember why our country was founded in the first place.

Walked past this guy I think right after coming back from Camp Pendleton and all we could talk about after seeing him was "Damn I wish I could've kept my facial hair", India Company graduated June 30th 2023, I hope he's doing good

I don’t see a problem with it It’s not like he’s doing it to be disobedient he’s not allowed to shave or trim any hair on his body at all It’s in his religion and doesn’t the military somewhat encourage people to hold onto their religion no matter what it is

I respect his religion believes but at the end of day the USMC lowered the higiene standards for this guy. What about when he wears his Charlie’s for inspection, this is going to open up the doors for others to complaint for whatever they want. The American people will see this guy on the streets in uniform and I have a feeling is not going to be good. Perhaps I’m wrong but I’m definitely want to hear the opinions of others.

His beard and turban are core to his religious beliefs and cultural heritage. The Sikh culture has a strong warrior tradition and to this day represents a hugely disproportionate percentage of the Indian military. This man loves his country and willingly enlisted in its military. He should be allowed to continue to practice his beliefs and culture while he serves.

@@Lincrych_16 I agree to an extent. The uniform of a United States Marine should be honored and respected. They don’t care about the color on your skin or the religion you practice. What they care about is a marine being a marine. Well should anyways. Not modify to someone’s beliefs whose nationality is from a different county. I was born in Houston, TX as well. Doesn’t mean because I have long hair and my “religious beliefs that so claim” warrants me to keep long hair regardless of uniform military code. It’s quite simple. If you want to be a marine. You should look like a marine. Not an Indian solider.
