Can you owners help decide if 2" or 3" belts etc is best? Be cool in the review too if some recommendations for belts/pads was included. The Sabelt looks class though.
@Catch_The_Irishman
@Catch_The_Irishman Ай бұрын
@@Mr_Latte_UK I had a 3" belt, only because it came from a race mud truck that I bought for parts. I found on the sim, even with full motion and the belt tension system, it was a bit too much. I switched to a 2 inch and it is more comfortable and reactive with the actuator belt system. I also use a 2" on a 3 DOF flight sim with a G- Belt. I may use it on a formula sim build in the future. The most important thing is you need a 5 point harness to keep the lap belt from riding up when using the tensioner. Getting a dual tensioner like the Qubic, Simxperience or PT Actuator will give you differential g force when cornering as well as braking, accelerating and surge where an actuator system works mostly in surge, braking and acceleration only. I recommend the 2 inch for sims. Hope that helps. Be safe, Sully.

Sim engineer again. So we tried this on the F-15 simulator in 1987. The belt hardware couldn’t keep up with the motion system so we had to remove it. Pilots felt the latency. Modern hardware and only being for a car is probably as immersive as the smile on your face suggests. Another great video……! P.S.- So I wanted you to watch the video last week specifically about motion cues because he explained it better than I’ve been doing in your chat. 😢

When I started out, I was on a single screen. I struggled to find/feel the immersion. When I got suggested to plug my quest 1 headset into my pc and try it, THAT is what really launched my passion for sim racing. So, I can relate to the feeling of when you find that hardware that truly changes the game for you. I'm on triples now. It took me a few steps back with driving not having full immersion. But after I got used to them, it's nice to be able to race/drive longer without feeling so drained after. It's nice to see that there is still much more to explore to that add joy and immersion to sim racing. Thanks for the video!

nice! I've had the pt-actuator tensionr for about a year, don't regret getting it (even if i had to replace the power brick). belt tensioners are really impressive. you eventually find yourself bracing for heavy braking zones. more than that though, having both belts on separate motors really communicates lateral g-force in a way that's very hard to explain (seriously you have to try one). Ovals are a completely different experience with it. I also found, as it can communicate lateral forces in a very convincing way (especially in VR), if you've got a motion rig you don't need to use the motion as much for those forces as you can trade it off against the belts, which can reduce the amount you get thrown around.
@chepilevski
@chepilevski Ай бұрын
Absolutely agree with you! Watching the belt movements in the video can’t really give the real picture of the lateral forces in cornering and it feel so convincing ! It is just huge surprise for me even if I expected something like that 😃

I would like to point out that the 2 inserts (if plastic or rubber) in the seat WILL wear through eventually due to the friction and begin to expose seat structure. Also, if a persons shoulders are higher than the lowest point of those ports, the belts will effectively be pulling down on the shoulders rather than back and will likely lead to back discomfort. Been there done that. I got a good setup now, but these configuration situations make a big difference in the enjoyment factor of this type of add-on.
@chepilevski
@chepilevski Ай бұрын
There are two low friction covers for the seat holes slots which looks like do great job and most likely the belts can wear with the time! And about the importance of the position you are very right, it makes huge difference between being in correct spot or lower!

i have only an H2 from Dofreality but also with their PTActuator TensionR System. I use my Rig also for flying Fighter Jets in DCS and there the Belt Tensioner is more awesome than in Sim Racing. Also my H2 tilts more than your Actuator Rig, but not so fast and precise. Actuator is better for Racing i guess. But the Belt Tensioner adds so much immersion when pulling 7g´s, combined with the 20° Tilt Angle and VR. So brutal... ;) But i also like Racing in my Rig and the Eu Rouge is also very aggressive at the compression. After going through it i often have to breath heavily :) What awesome stuff we can buy these days. BTW nice Content you make.

The motion rig looks awesome bro! How doe all those bumps a Sebring feel? I can imagine it has got to just feel so wild to physically feel everything with the movement setup.

I just build my rig and set my V2s at 50% instead of 10 i had them before Heavy braking is awesome and i have more control. When you feel braking hard and feel nothing is weird,my mind just craves that braking feel you have in a real car. I wish i could buy this For now im gonna use my imagination

Thanks for this video. All your videos are great to watch, your enthusiasm and passion for Sim Racing is genuine and awesome to watch. And after this video I could not stop myself from ordering this. So I will be looking forward to getting mine. The experience will probably be less than in your setup as I don't have a motion system, hopefully I will be able to add that in the near future as well, but by this video I do have the idea that this will already increase the immersion on my rig combined with the wind simulator and the two buttkickers I have. Now I need to find a good set of seatbelts to use with this and my Sparco Evo L seat. Do you have any recommendations for that?

I am always jealous of your cockpit view lol.. i can never get my pitch and horizon shift exactly where i want it in iRacing.... Keep it up man, you inspire us! I gotta thank you because you literally inspired my entire rig (everything from the laidback seating angle, adding memory foam for cushion and lower back support, triple monitors curved 32" with alcantara on the edges, extended steering shaft to bring monitors closer... you inspired it all!!!!! thank you!!!!! just one question :) Are you constantly adjusting your FOV and pitch/horizon or do you set it and forget it.. I have a 60cm view distance with 32" triples and i just cannot seem to figure out the perfect monitor angle and FOV setting (I've tried everything from your recommended 50 degree /176 fov, all the way up to irSidekick's recommendation of 62 degree / 186 fov) PS that qubic motion system looks awesome, i think im going to try building their DIY wind sim using Inline Blowers.
@chepilevski
@chepilevski Ай бұрын
Hey man, never change the horizon but I don’t remember if was two klicks up or something! I mostly tweak a bit the cockpit camera for the different cars but try to be reasonable movement not too much as it breaks the proportions and I can’t feel the cars edges! I’m also at around 55cm eye distance and 50 degrees angle between monitors! I can’t say if is perfect but I feel confident in driving and must be ok! Maybe you should try something you are bit happy with and just stick to it till you get used to it !

Broooooo this is insane. Let me see if I understand, it doesn't only tension under braking but also one side tensions when you get lateral g forces? Did you try it without your motion rig on to see the isolated effect? Great video as always my friend.
@chepilevski
@chepilevski Ай бұрын
Man, cornering and decelerating it really feels like side forces! I will test without motion in the next week but with the brief test it was as impressive without as well 😃
@polibard
@polibard Ай бұрын
You can make a poor mans version of this by pulling the force off the back of your brake pedal and feeding it under your sim rig via cables to pull on the belts. Not terribly accurate, but there's no lag, no electronics to tune, and minimal cost.
@chepilevski
@chepilevski Ай бұрын

Nice idea but it will affect your pedal force and travel amounts
@polibard
@polibard Ай бұрын
@@Maisaranator That's true, but a spring in between would fix a lot of that if you got the right one. I had plans for it on one of my cockpits that was already elevated, but never got around to it before I sold it. I can "feel" acceleration G force by listening to the engine but it's impossible to get a realistic feeling for how hard you are braking. Definitely 3 screens helped, but only so much.

@@polibard even if the idea is not perfectly applicable, it is still brilliant 👍🏻 . It’s really good to see people using their brain cells in a good way😀.
@polibard
@polibard Ай бұрын
@@Maisaranator As much as I love cool gadgets, I also like taking advantage of natural forces. Probably a better option although more expensive and complicated would be to use a hydraulic brake pedal, pivot the seat at the front, and use hydraulic pressure to lift it at the back, with belts fixed to the floor rather than the seat frame. That would give you tip forward and belt tightening feedback, which would be even better than just the belts alone. Sometimes it's great being poor, it stimulates your brain. If I ever win lotto I'm going straight to electro hydraulic 6DOF and never working again 😁
