What city/province/state was this? Does that hill always get like this?
@tinydancer74265 жыл бұрын
That one and many more in the city and also in the county surrounding it. My street gets that bad and is one of the last to get treated with conditions are really bad. Cul de sac with a down hill slope toward the end of the street. When it is really bad, it doesn't pay to try even moving your car because it is a down hill skating rink, and even if you make to the crest at the middle of the street, then it is down hill to the adjoining street with a couple of cars parked directly across from the entrance to my street. Like I said....... when it is that bad, we just suck it up and stay home, and sit by the window with a cup of something hot to drink and watch the snow come down ....... and maybe go out and bit by bit clear the sidewalks and maybe shovel around our cars ...... again, not that we're going anywhere.

Do they not have driving tests in snowy areas to prepare people for icy roads or something? Shouldn't it be optional yet highly requested to do seasonal driving tests in cold seasons or areas with the most snow and ice? Just do a free driving class to see how people do in weather like this and teach them how to drive and what to do. It can't be that hard, can it?

Why idiots keep braking when going downhill? They need to push the brake, then release, then push, then release until car stops! You must have soft tires and deep crampons and you never be in this situation!
@byronmill9 жыл бұрын
+Azureecosse You are clueless. ABS does NOTHING when all wheels are slipping on ice. There is no differential speed between any of the wheels as they are all STOPPED. ABS system can only assume the vehicle is at a full stop. Pumping the brakes is the correct action.
@byronmill9 жыл бұрын
+Azureecosse Then explain to us in detail what the response of the ABS system is when all 4 wheels are on ice like this and none of the wheels are turning, all locked up. Explain how the ABS system can distinguish between that status and the vehicle standing still with the brakes applied.
@byronmill9 жыл бұрын
+Fukk U Ouch, wow.. you really got me there!! That's going to leave mark.
@zlackbiro9 жыл бұрын
+byronmill ABS will never know the difference between ice when all wheels stops and dry surface when wehicle standing in one place parked, because all wheels sliding. Situation will be different in case when one of the wheel has hard contact on surface and make rotations to send signal about moving, then ABS will work his job! ABS sensors won't detect any rotation on ice, so, system is thinking that the wehicle standing in place. Mistery solved... No one of the "car scienetist" can say any comment about that! I drive cars more than 10 years without ABS. I only know how meny, when, why and what wheel has rotation or not, car not. So, in this situation, only you can do to stop the wehicle is to fast push and release the brake in high intervals and than slower and slower but with higer and higer push on the brake. When you decide to turn wehicle righ or left, you must release brake during steering your wheel, or you will go streight on!
