Actually Doug, I'm subscribed to wheelsdan because you mentioned him on your woodworking channel. I never get notifications though. I'm not getting notifications for you either. I just have to go to the site and see what, if anything I missed. I must have pissed You Tube off...easy enough with my mouth 🤣.

Looking at setting up a workshop for myself and watching how you negotiate around your shop in your chair has been very helpful P.S. I'm in a chair too, Great job
@wheelsdan
@wheelsdan 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. Yep setting up your shop is very individual and obviously in a chair its completely different but I did make my benches slightly higher than I wanted so other people don't struggle and get a bad back bending too far down to my bench . Also if you can get yourself used to working on something only a little lower than normal then when you go to someone else's workshop thats not disabled its not too hard work lol . If you need any help or advice on workshop setup please get in touch! Ide love to help

Great job Dan. Gate looks lovely. I’m thinking of doing something similar myself, but in a fence version, between block piers, but I’ve been told not to fix the tongue and groove composite boards to the steel frame as it will impede expansion of the boards in the warm weather and warp them. I have seen a number of gates with no fixings and they have warped boards also. What’s your thoughts…?
@wheelsdan
@wheelsdan 7 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting luckily I left oversized hols and siliconed them and this gate isn't in direct sunlight for too long of the day . Saying that it has been in temperature ranges of -6°c to +40°c with no issue I guess its buy quality boards mate

That is super nice!!! You can come do my picket fence. These plastic/vinyl things on the market today are garbage! A steel-composite fence would be so much better. A word of advice to everyone...NEVER get a wooden picket fence unless you want a very high maintenance fence.
@wheelsdan
@wheelsdan Жыл бұрын

Sorry for the long wait i completely forgot I hadn't replied to you 😬 my benches are 830mm off the floor and 800mm deep the steel is 10mm plate on top of 50mm box steel at 3mm wall thickness thanks for the question and sorry again for the late reply

I'm pretty sure the bracings should be on a diagonal though.
@wheelsdan
@wheelsdan Жыл бұрын
The bracing wasn't to strengthen the gate frame but to stop any flex or movement of the composite boards. Thanks for watching and commenting I really appreciate it
@morgancalvi6675
@morgancalvi6675 Жыл бұрын
@@wheelsdan yeah...that should be diagonal. Barn doors are made like that for a reason. Plus if the gate door ends up sagging, diagonal braces/other hardware are what lifts it.

What was the thickness of that material you used for the frame
