First steel cut on Royal Navy's third Dreadnought nuclear submarine

The construction of the UK nuclear deterrent programe's latest submarine has begun, marking a significant milestone.
In a ceremony at BAE Systems' Barrow-in-Furness site, the steel was cut on Warspite, the third of four new submarines.
The new Dreadnought class is made up of four new ballistic nuclear subs - Dreadnought, Valiant, Warspite and King George VI.

@@mnnh1 No, Australia will be constructing their AUKUS SSN’s in Adelaide. Only the reactors will be manufactured in the UK for Australia.

the 3rd carrier isn't likely the next major Surface ship expected to go on build besides the various Frigates are the Amphibious Assault ships that will be replacing both the Albion and Bay classes then after them it'll probably be the next destroyer class.

To say the submarines are the UK's only way of delivering a nuclear weapon, I think the decision to drop from 16 to 12 silos is a bad move, even if they don't routinely carry that many, it's better to have it and not need it than it is to need it and not have it IMO, I think is also serves as a more credible deterrent.

Just a suggestion: Offer Astute Boat 6 to the Aussies in a lease crewed by Aussies and skippered by the RN. Hold back Dreadnought Boat 4 and build 2 additional Astutes. We need to take the lead over the Yanks in AUKUS or we will lose out yet again.

She lost her status as a Superpower with the loss of her Empire and a 40 year period of economic instability but being one of the P5,G7 and having Nuclear weapons is definitely not the markings of a failed state.

As a 2nd generation immigrant I think I am in a safe position to say that nearly every immigrant to the UK who I have met in my life feels greater loyalty to the UK than anyone else. They benefit the economy to no end and contribute to the development of the UK as a multicultural and diverse society. As for spending 40% of our budget on healthcare at least we have a national health system unlike you heartless yanks. Although grossly inefficient at least we don't have people who are dying in their homes because they don't want to pay for healthcare. As for a crime epidemic?
