There are so many Sail boat channels on KZbin, so , it's great to see a Power boat channel. I also really enjoy the inclusion of all the docking, refueling and maintenance segments you include and all the "trials and tribulations" that these matters entail. Keep up the great videos and have a wonderful, safe trip!

Very good video. We enjoy our 61 Hatt. Wind doesn’t bother the deep boat, but as you said, all bets are off on currents. I subscribe to the idea that slower is better...way less excitement which is my goal! Keep the videos coming. :)

MORE MORE MORE..love you two and want more videos, please. Please do not allow your own fun to diminish ours..your fans want more!!! Just kidding of course but there is truth in humor a nice short video update every couple days would make all of us so happy. Safe travels, and know that thousands of us are enjoying your journey with you.

Enjoy your trip - we'll be taking notes on the trip south of us (Cape Canaveral area) as we'll be making the trip down to Key West in 2019. Tracked back through your videos of your northern transit. We had just picked up our 'new to us' Maxum 4100 SCA from Cocoa Village Marina about two month before you arrived - you were in the slip directly facing the one our boat used to be in - we're up in Harbortown Marina on the Canaveral Barge Canal now. Stay safe. As many others have mentioned, thanks for all the power boat cruising specific info you provide - navigation/voyage planning, docking hints, marina and town information.

Glad you like the videos. We passed through your area about 10 days ago. We anchored out and found a spot for our dinghy just north of the bridge. I guess the dinghy dock is no longer where it shows on Google Earth. We will be posting that video some time soon.

AWESOME..I will start looking at the Facebook page each day. I get the vibe that you do not really care about getting lots of subscribers and making money from KZbin which is cool, it seems like a lot of work for a little money. That said, you two are doing something that hundreds of thousands of people would be interested in I have no doubt. I love hearing the details such as how much everything costs. The video you posted about the cost of purchase and operation a while back was so enlightening. My wife and I have watched it 10 times because we talk about doing the same thing you are..and you showed us what it really costs compared to buying a condo someplace...loved it. Remember when story telling, we care about the characters more than the places usually..we can find travel videos anywhere. Anytime you can share your feelings, show what you are eating, spending, how you are dealing with the heat, the cold, sleeping with noise outside..all of that stuff is so interesting to all of us who are living vicariously through you. MORE, MORE, MORE...safe travels to my Philly friends! Rich

That was fun to watch. We got our most recent boat from Summit 3 years ago and for the first year kept it at Triton Marina, which is just North at the top of the Elk when you pop out of the C&D so we spent a good bit of time at the Chesapeake Inn. Past two years we have been on the North East river and I would not go up there due to the lack of water other than by land. Fun to see our area of boating though... I was disappointed thinking you had been there this past weekend since we passed on an invite to go watch the band they had there, but the trees say this video was a bit delayed in posting. Looking forward to the next one and hope you are having safe travels.

ED I think you did a great job docking nothing wrong with pulling off and making another approach currents and wind can change quickly I had rather be safe than sorry if you know what I mean. I noticed a new crew member on this trip. I thought it was pretty when they were under the helm working and asked for wrench LOL Good job at the fuel dock to I think you are doing great handling her this trip. I still have a soft spot for the older hatteras they are such classic in my book. Have a safe trip and a great week. God Bless!!!

That is funny! It can be tough at Chesapeake City. Only one spot at the marina can hold us. However, we did get lucky once and got the municipal dock. Only $25 for the night if you use electric and water.
@jmp.t28b996 жыл бұрын
Differential power would aid you greatly in docking. One prop in forward and one in reverse would pivot the boat nicely with no forward motion. My two cents worth. It works on my Defever 44, I assume the Hatteras would react the same.
@tryingnottosink91076 жыл бұрын
I almost always do that when docking. The problem I had this time was the current was pushing me off the dock and I did not have enough momentum to carry me there as I swung the stern around.

You don't get paid any more for docking fast. But, sometimes it's more costly to the boat. Slow and steady is best for captain and boat, Happy sailing.
@tryingnottosink91075 жыл бұрын
I agree!
@richardbohlingsr34905 жыл бұрын
Every docking is unique and as you do more you'll get better at it. Wind and current are things that you get a feel for after awhile. With your boat I would expect a stern line first and putting the away side engine in forward dead slow would get you against the dock easily. Especially, since you have a bow thruster for help. Problem is you can't see the mate, but a neck lanyard on a talkie would let her direct you without seeing her. Have a great time at sea. Happy sailing.

@tedbroderson93156 жыл бұрын
So why didn't you tie up port side to for fuel?
@parmfamily6 жыл бұрын
Ted Broderson Summits fuel dock is horribly located in a tight area as deep into the marina as you can get. It is MUCH easier to make the turn coming in and dock starboard for a straight line to leave. Coming off the fuel dock and trying to spin something that large towards the other boats and the crane thing they have there usually would be a pain for sure. We have a 36’ and would still go the route they did there.
@bruceduckworth24826 жыл бұрын
Another awesome video!
@radbcc6 жыл бұрын
Enjoyed the trop. Three questions: 1. Why did you dock on the wrong side for fuel fill? 2. Why do you always contact the marina on the wrong channel? 3. At 13:50 looks like a nice Bar/Restaurant and staff?
@tryingnottosink91076 жыл бұрын
The conditions (current,wind) determine which side I dock on, not where the fuel fills are located. Marinas monitor Channel 16 and then request that you change to a non-hailing channel. The restaurant is at Chesapeake City Marina. They have a nice tiki bar and decent food and music.

Thanks for another awesome video. You guys continue to inspire and educate us. A question for you if I may. We’re looking at a 58 Hatteras LRC (Wife wants to go back to Fiji). We watch a number of other boating KZbin channels, many of which are sailing channels, and are curious about the relationship between power boaters and sailors? Is there the same type of camaraderie that we often see or do folks keep to their cliques? It would be sad if it’s the later but humans tend to do what humans do. Curious what you’ve experienced now that you’ve spent a number of years behind the helm.
