Incredible antennas

Have you tried it a bit higher up on a park bench or on top top the car?
@K9KMVTheUnluckyHam4 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul - you are right, it should be off the ground by at least it's own height. I have since tried it on a table with better results. I don't think on a car would be good though, as it would be adversely affected by the metal (unlike other antennas).

It this te cable RG213? How is the diameter of principal loop?
@K9KMVTheUnluckyHam3 жыл бұрын

Was that your first time at Busse Woods? I used to do similar but not officially POTA from there. Funny you made a QSO from there to Mt. Prospect, all of 10 miles. Reminds me of one I made from the hill at Remier Reservoir in Palatine to Arlington Heights. Hope to meet up in person or on the air some day. Rob/WA9RAD

Hi Rob, I’ve been there several times testing my different setups. It’s nice to practice close by before making longer trips for POTA. I also practice at the Des Plaines River Trail near my house sometimes. I’d like to check out Riemer Reservoir one of these days.

How much bandwidth does the antenna gives you when you tune? For example, you were in 14.250, will the tuned antenna reach 14.350 without running again? Will it have a reasonable SWR? thx.
@K9KMVTheUnluckyHam3 жыл бұрын
No, it will need to be retuned again to get from 14.250 up to 14.350. The bandwidth is very narrow... maybe 10 kHz or so.

@@K9KMVTheUnluckyHam Thank you for responding. It's a wonderful antenna, but retuning must be challenging.
