The Thor Scope definitely taught us some valuable lessons along the Blue Ridge Parkway while Boondocking Crabtree Falls, NC. One, how to use all our lights, brights, and fog lamps during very foggy, low visibility. Two, learn the logistics of your #classbrv before you go boon docking!
We will have many, many articles on our website soon. The Blue Ridge Parkway is our favorite place to go, not too far, and always full of new things and sights to see, during every season! We camped at Crabtree Falls. It was an experience of a lifetime and we learned so much about the van.
The majority of this short film was done with my new iPhone 13 Pro! It is such a wonderful tool, and sometimes I will even put the camera down for a minute and use it. In fact, this time I used it a lot. LOL. Hope you enjoy as always. There is a second video to follow to include a look at the Crab Tree Falls campsite and the wonderful, I mean amazing hike and waterfall located there. We also explore other locations (to be named later in the video) as well along the BRP.

Other than the dealer as a resource, can you share video links where it walk you through step by step as to what to do when stopping to boondocks - what gets turned on first, second, etc. I just bought a Thor Scope 18M. Thanks.

I'm curious, do you find the sleeping situation tolerable? I spent some time in a new 18M on a dealer lot and, with the couch bed fully extended, concluded that my wife and I (both medium build - she 5'7" and me 6'1") would be VERY snug with little to no room to turn over.

I have the same van. I purchased inflatable step stools 4 of them and it extended the bed width-wise where me and my girlfriend have plenty of space. also sent out to get custom cushions made with cooling memory foam in them. 5.5 inches thick. much better sleep!

Hello and thank you for your video. I am considering a Thor Rize 18A with a generator, but apprehensive about the noise generators create. What is your experience from your perspective dealing with that noise, how about others nearby, do folks object to it, roll their eyes :) do you recommend an RV with a generator, or should I stay clear. Thanks and happy travels!

The generator is not that loud. And compared to others I think it’s super quiet. We camped at a place where we weren’t supposed to run it during late hours, we had too it got so hot out and inside, fired it up and had no issues. You can’t really hear it loud inside either. Sometimes I forget it’s running.

They advertise the Onan generators as the quietest generators they put in RVs and you will even be able to run it at quiet time in the campground. When I was running mine in the daytime a lady reported my noisy generator which isn't Onan brand new and the park ranger asked me how long I was going to run it. It was very hot and humid and I had no electric hookup so I had to run it to survive from the heat and humidity and I told him I would turn it off at quiet time. My dog and I almost suffocated in the van when it was like 90° and hot and humid outside so even opening a window didn't help one morning I turned the generator on at 2:00 a.m. because it was too hot and I again thought I was going to suffocate and know what a dog feels like when parked in a hot car although I would never do that to an animal or a human. I turn the generator on and let it run for about an hour and nobody reported me so the park ranger did not knock at my van door and tell me to shut it down. After about an hour it was tolerable in there so I turned it off. The next morning I asked the one camper that was close to me if I Disturbed their rest and they didn't hear a thing they said. I was upset with the RV company who advertises how quiet the generators are and they are not quiet although mine quit working after about 2 weeks of using it just on the weekends and after the sensor was replaced that was defective from the time it was new apparently it was a little quieter but it was still noisy if you want any kind of power after being without electricity or shore power for a couple days you need a generator or if you absolutely want to use your air conditioner you need a generator. Cummins diesel got the sensor within a good time frame which surprised them also and they were very kind and helpful having me come down there the evening before my appointment so I would be there at 7:00 a.m. and allowing me to hook up to electricity so I would have air conditioning overnight while I camped there in their parking lot at no charge. Cummins diesel became my hero and the Thor people were not very high on my list for quality or for compassion when I bought a brand new van that had several things go wrong in a short time.
