Forgot to mention in my previous post, in Texas, scratches do not have to be fixed. When I rebuilt my dad's van, there was a huge dent in the back door when I got it, the dent was still there when I got it inspection, and it's still there today. In other states, a little surface rust, even a little haze on the headlights will fail the inspection, so call the inspector before hand and ask.

Tennessee just makes you turn in where you got the parts from, and that you have the receipts. In 20 years I have only been inspected once. Be careful on that camper Carlos, that can turn out to be a nightmare with all the rain we have had.

Joe Smith Man I record stuff and then I forget to post it and then I forget to edit it. But I’m going to try to just make the video merge it all together pretty quick and then get it posted the same night

Sight unseen? Brave man. Anyways, I don't have a lot of experience with salvage title cars, but I'll share what I know. I'm in Texas, and here it is very lax. When my father was bed bound, and needed a van that could transport him+wheelchair, I got a salvage van from Copart. Damage was minimal, I didn't do anything to it. No bondo, no bodywork, I just took it a regular inspection station where they (a civilian) did a regular inspection, passed it, and I filled out an affidavit explaining the repairs I completed (which was none). I must also include in the affidavit the source of my parts, and provide a receipt. The source of my parts must not be from a vehicle that has been destroyed (or issued a certificate of destruction). Basically, if I came across a flood car, and insurance issued it a certificate of destruction, I can't use any parts from it, including hood, bumper and fenders. I then filled out an application for title, and I got a rebuilt title. In Florida, there's a popular KZbinr named "SamCrac". There the inspection is more strict. The vehicle must be trailered (not driven) to a police inspection station, where a police officer looks over the repairs thoroughly, checks the VIN on any major replacement parts, such as engine, fender, hood, bumper, door, transmission, and makes sure they didn't come from a stolen vehicle. Also, in Florida, the rebuilder much present before and after pictures of the repairs. The pictures from Copart can be helpful if you did the repairs and forgot to take some before pictures.

John Davis that’s very helpful. I plan on going to my local pull a part and they buy a lot of there vehicles salvage. Should I search titles before pulling parts etc ?

@@dreamdealer8702, depends on the laws of your state. I found out most of what I needed to do for me in Texas by checking out the Texas DMV website and reading the rebuild process there. There should be an affidavite or a form that you'll have to fill out. If you find it, it'll probably come with instructions. It did for me. If you want to check out titles for free, try the VinCheck from NICB (National Insurance Crime Bureau). You can check out up to 5 titles per day for free. I don't know if it tells the difference between salvage or destroyed, but it does tell the difference between clean and not.

Hey Carlos. Only reason I stay away from salvage title cars is in my state we can only rebuild two a year without a separate rebuilder license. Plus the turn around time is too long for me on big projects like this. Also of course you can't drive the cars so you don't know if they have big mechanical problems other than the body damage. Too many unknowns for me! Plus even if you do get a rebuilt title, you're going to want to have the customer sign a form stating they know about the title brand and it truly will devalue the car. I just don't them. But hopefully you will be able to tell with those few if it's something you'd want to do again in the future. Good luck.
