Getsemaní belongs to Jesus Christ Superstar, Camilo produced it and played the role of Jesus in the first Spanish version in 1975. From Jesus Christ Superstar Rock Opera. Getsemani is when Jesus was about to be arrested by the Romans, tortured and crucified (a horrible slow death used by the Romans). Its so sad. Camilo had his eyes set on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s in London. He was intent on producing a Spanish production of that Broadway and West End hit. Sesto not only bankrolled the project (a risky endeavour at the time) and cast himself in Jesus role, but he translated Lloyd Webber’s lyrics into Spanish. Despite the risk involved, the 1975 production was a total success.
