Hey Ziet, another great video, i will suggest that many Malaysian invest in Unit trust fund via various bank and they end up getting very very low return while they pay a high expense ration while when you purchase the unit trust fund they will deduct 3% - 6% one time charge. i am sure many malaysia will get a better idea on why ETF is still much better compared to unit trust .
@ZietInvests2 ай бұрын
Hi Rohan, thank you so much, and yessss that's why I've been HUGE on ETFs because many have been missing out on it and opting for unit trusts/mutual funds with hefty charges!

ETFs that pay dividends vs ETFs that reinvest. Which one better for Malaysians
@ZietInvests2 ай бұрын
if US ETFs - i'd say without dividends one, to save on the 30% dividend WHT if irish ETFs - both should be fine, but reinvest would be slightly better too ultimately up to you if you want the regular income

Hi ziets, I have a question I’m committing to an investment where I put RM500 more or less every month into S&P 500. Personally use moomoo to invest in VOO, but after learn about the Irish version of S&P500. I learnt about them taxing the dividend more on US than irish, also learning about accumulating dividends ETFs. And now I’m more keen on investing in VUAA. I can’t seem to invest in this with moomoo. Is there another broker to invest with? What should I do? In the long run, I’m afraid I’ll lose too much due to the tax
@ZietInvests2 ай бұрын
You’re right, Irish ETFs like VUAA are better for avoiding high U.S. dividend withholding taxes, but Moomoo doesn’t offer them yet. You can consider switching to Interactive Brokers (IBKR) for access to Irish-domiciled ETFs. They offer a wide range of global ETFs, including accumulating ones, which could suit your investment preference better!

If you're looking for a 10-year horizon in US stocks, ETFs like VOO (S&P 500) or QQQ (Nasdaq 100) are popular choices. Both offer solid diversification and exposure to large companies. VOO is more broad-based, while QQQ leans tech-heavy.

do you have a video on advise on what to buy when youre just starting out with low capital? how to build up capital so that you have diversified portfolio? especially on moomoo
@ZietInvests2 ай бұрын
Hi matthew, you can always start off with a simple/diversified portfolio to take on minimal volatility, like the S&P 500 ETF for example - great track record, largest capital market and highest growth of all regions considering the risk:reward ratio. Moomoo does offer RSP which is a great way to DCA constantly, perhaps can check that feature out! (i'm covering that feature soon), but for now, perhaps this video could give you more idea on which one suits you: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZSsmX9vi7aheqssi=w1rKMo6xQH2Huq2t Hope this helps!

Hi Ziet, any idea how does CSPX works? I understand the dividend is automatically reinvested but I don’t see any additional units in my account?
@ZietInvests2 ай бұрын
Hi nix, CSPX is an accumulating ETF, which means dividends are automatically reinvested, but they’re reflected in the value of the ETF rather than as additional units in your account. So, you won't see extra units, but the value of your existing units should increase over time. Hope this clears things up! 😊

What about foreign exchange risk?
@ZietInvests2 ай бұрын
Ah yes, you are right, FX risk is definitely something to consider, especially with international investments - but over the long run it actually normalizes itself (esp if we're talking currencies of advanced nations, marginal difference, though if versus currencies of developing nations like ours then yes, substantial difference and is one of the factor to consider!)

As us dollar weaken against MYR, how did u manage the drop in value if converted to MYR. I have some amount in ETF that already show same paper loss despite the steady price in usd 😢😢
@ZietInvests2 ай бұрын
Yeah, when USD weakens against MYR, it can affect your returns when converting back to MYR. One way to manage this is to focus on long-term gains, as currencies fluctuate over time! Don't worry too much about the short-term trend.
