Good pick Jay! Hard to believe this was recorded in 1973... If you do "Free Bird" make sure you listen to the album version, Skynyrd is a very deep "Rabbit Hole" with some of the best music you will ever hear!

No one ever gave artimus Pyle the drummer the credit deserved, he kept a strong backbeat flowing in all their songs.
@steven3271-x9d2 жыл бұрын
FWIW, it wasn't Artimus Pyle who played drums on this track. It was Bob Burns. But both were great. And most don't know that Rickey Medlocke played drums for Skynyrd (before Bob) on the "First and Last" album, only to leave and form Blackfoot (of Highway Song and Train, Train fame) and then return as one of Skynyrd's lead guitarists in the post-crash lineup. Rickey still plays for Skynyrd to this day. Only Gary Rossington (and Rickey) are left from the pre-crash days, all the rest RIP.

This is one of my favourite songs of all time! I love the lyrics because it always make me think of my mother. She would tell me a similar message growing up and always be wishing for my success and happiness. I'm 40 and I still consider my mother my best friend and the best woman in my life. Thanks for reacting to this bro! Glad you like the song and appreciate the lyrics as well.

Forget people's suggestions simply listen to everything they ever did but listen to versions done before 1978 + First And Last album. But when you do Freebird do Freebird live at Oakland coliseum 1977 three months before the plane crash. I'm sure you will love each and every one of their songs because they wrote and played for the fans. Live long and prosper brother man 😎
