First Time Fishing with the $7 Zebco Micro! Cheap Combo Challenge

This Cheap Combo Challenge is my first time fishing with the Zebco 33 Micro Telecast that I got for $7. Along with some red worms from Walmart I put this little combo to the test. For a beginner setup, it casts well, is portable, and has an adjustable functioning drag. While the rod could have a bit more backbone it gets the job done. I think this is more of a challenge for the combo than it is for me, but in the end I'd say it performed rather well. For being my first time fishing the $7 Zebco Micro Combo, I give it a PASS.

James Murray I wonder if the boat knew it was RF and was just being a douchebag to be in a video. He waved down the canal, then came back, came back again and then he was in the outro at the ramp. It’s a shame RF couldn’t fish that spot anymore because these cupcakes were blasting music. Some of the channels I watch about a FPS game have gotten either a warning from YT saying that they used copyright music in the video or had their channels flat out deleted.

Beautiful fish. I love the little Zebcos. I have two, since 1983 or so. 1) a Zebco UL-4 trigger spin and a Zebco Quantum Micro triggerspin. The UL-4 has landed some very nice trout up to 17 inches on a Berkely light rod. 4lb extra limp line will cast to the next county. For still fishing, I use 1/4 oz slip sinker above a swivel, with a marshmallow and an egg on a #10 hook. I like the bait to float off the bottom. The 1/4oz lead get the bait into deeper water from shore. A cast of up to 80 feet is normal if I side sling it.

My Mom used to sit next to a landing and fish with a brim buster, cork, and crickets/worms... All day long these guys would put these 2,000-20,000 boats in the water with hundreds of dollars worth of gear... Most of the time they would come back with little to no fish and she would max out her limit... Talk about some pissed off fishermen...

I was really looking forward to Micro Spincast 33 video. I saw the same one at our Ollie’s store that opened up last week. I was thinking about getting one just for a truck pole with a small tackle box just for those moments where you see a water hole and think to yourself, I wouldn’t mind wetting a hook there. I have always fished with the Zebco 33, and I just LOVE IT! Two years ago I started using a bait cast combo, I'm just getting the hang of it. At first I had ssssoo many backlashes I just took off the bait cast reel, and replaced it with my 33. I watched a few videos on setting up a baitcast reel, and I started back using my Abu Garcia Pro Max along with the Zebco 33. It's the best of both worlds now!!! I'm planning on using the Abu Garcia baitcaster as my primary, and my 33 as a follow up combo with a Miyagi swimbait Pro pearl. My favorite pond is highly pressured, and has a large gizzard shad population.

Caught a 5lb walleye on chartreuse worms, was one of the best fish and fights I've ever had! Was fishing for catfish and drum in the river below the dam. We use those and we will pick up 30 red wigglers from bait store if we plan on fishing live bait. Love that little zebco telescopic combo! My 8yr old son wants a bigger rod and reel than the zebco pitchin stick. Maybe the mini 33 is a good transition for him.

Great.. I use a couple small sets to when fishing from a marina dock and a boat at times. Its fun when you manage to hook onto a 4 pounder using a little Spin Cast DOCK DEMON.. I have a couple that I play with to pass time and also catch a lot of blue gill etc. to use for bait.. I got the expensive ones though I think I paid like 15 bucks for them.. I actually FOUND a Little Mermaid set that I played with for a year or so... Caught a few decent Trout with it when I was in Cali.. To many people nowadays think you have to have a 100 dollar plus set up to fish... They just are out of touch with keeping it realistic..

I’ve always been a fan of the trigger spin cast reels. I pair em up on fly rods and soft lines like TRILENE XL for the perfect ultralight casting rig. PS I used some telescoping rods back some years and I liked them for portability. I hope this one has durability. Great Xmas gift for kids.

Bought one for my son last year it’s been great. I have a Piscifun Backpack he uses with it. He mostly uses the Gulp doesn’t like the real bait feels guilty after so we use fake bait..

It paid for itself in one time out specially if you kept the fish, my self I fished the Erie canal so I an used to boats from kayaks, canoes, bass boats, tugboats all the way up to million dollar yachts so I'm used to the traffic and don't even notice it any more. Even though I live states away now. Fun fact while growing up as a kid me and my friends would stand on the bridge and wave to the folks on their yachts then kick sand and pebbles on them while they passed by.. we were kids just passing time lol did not mean harm but I still laugh and at the same time fell bad at all the yelling that we heard from those folks.

I'm always super nervous with telescopic rods just in case I hooked something bigger than intended. But for bluegills and other panfish it does the job well. I've wasted $7 on worse things haha. And those people were really annoying. People going too fast through channels and then creepy people who just sit and watch other people...yeah, I'm the type that likes my space. At least you got some nice little ones. Another successful outing.
