Hello! I have never actually shipped hatching eggs before so I wouldn’t even know where to begin but there are so many good videos on KZbin you could learn from! Thank you for watching ours! We really appreciate it!

Don't know who you are, but I salute you. Excellent content & portrayal of what can happen in shipping & how to mitigate it. Superb! Thank you very much. Take the rest of the day off with pay; have your husband take you out to dinner. (p.s.: wash the socks before letting your son wear them again. Just a thought...I don't want to be intrusive...)

What happens if the person sent them packed upside down and they have been like that for 4 days? I noticed some had their air sac at the pointy end... I’ve stored them pointy side down for now until tomorrow... a few have detached air sacs...
@opryhill6552
@opryhill6552 3 жыл бұрын
Hello! The reason you keep eggs pointy end down is to use gravity to keep the yolk centered. If bacteria enters the egg it has to go through the egg white first before it can get to the more delicate and perishable yolk IF the yolk is centered correctly in the egg which pointy end down does. So it gives you that extra protection from a bacterial infection killing your embryo. Additionally, when you keep the pointy end down it will lessen the chance of any bacteria that entered the air cell from also entering the yolk in the event of a detached air cell...which you get quite frequently I am finding during the shipping of eggs. Pointy end down will keep the detached air cell at the blunt end, away from the yolk in that instance. So basically it all comes down to pointy end down to protect the yolk from an infection of any kind.

@@opryhill6552 So they’ll be ok to incubate tomorrow then? I really hope most of them hatch. I’ve hatched from this farm before 7 ducks. This will be the first time hatching a large batch - 16 shipped, plus my own ducks eggs - 6

@@KCsBabies Its hard to say. I haven’t ever incubated any that were blunt end down but Unless they are super dirty or have any kind of compromised shell, i wouldn’t stress. Make sure your incubator is super clean and I would say you should be just fine!! Best of luck! Please keep me updated with how your hatch goes!

I would say yOu are fine. To be safe o would candle and look for any air bubbles or compromised air cells. If all looks well I would say you are fine to put in the incubator so long as they are at room temp and incubator has had time to level.

You may hatch out 13 chicks out of 28 hatching eggs but how many will live after hatching. Even with ordering chicks you get loses and that's mostly from rough handling and shipping. The best is buying hatching eggs locally if you can or picking them up yourself out of state.

I mean probably what you ve done is good, but stop stressing. In my first incubation i ve put all kinds of eggs, big, small , dirty, clean and almost all hatched, they are not that fragile, just choose eggs from a good hen , farm or whatever and stop washing them, they will hatch even if they are dirty, good luck to you.

Hello and thanks for watching, I am grateful to you for sharing your time with me! I suppose I should be adding that I have incubated my own flocks eggs with amazing success and never had anything below 80%. Then I tried shipped eggs 😅😂😂. So many variables.

You have too many things working against you when you order hatching eggs. 1 is fertility of the eggs, 2 is shipping and rough handling of packaged eggs, 3 proper packaging by the breeder and instructions , 4 temperature of the weather at time of shipping. Not to mention the incubation process you use. Way to many factors for me and too expensive. They cost just as much or more than hatched chicks after hatching. At least with buying chicks you know what your getting.

To each his own. Since this video I have incubated shipped eggs with an average of a 50-70% hatch rate from all over the country. There is definitely a way to do and a way not to, people to buy from and people not to buy from. I think with enough trial an error anything is possible. I plan on making an update video…someday 😂😂 there are a lot of ways to be successful or lose your booty with shipped eggs. With anything in life really this is the case. All about the mindset and length you are willing to do to to find a solution.

@@opryhill6552 Thanks for sharing and to each his /her own. New people never know what's true, opinion or just preference labeled as truth. New people end up wasting money because of it so, best to stay away unless it's your hobby to waste money to learn what the truth is. Trial and error is nice when you have the time and money to burn. Not for me. I do like to listen about the subject.

oh lady! there's just too many wrong things you did in this video and the eggs doesn't have to be fresh, even a week old eggs would hatch in an incubator if they were stored properly, I don't even wanna find out how many of them hatched.

Hello and thanks for watching! I suppose we will have to agree to disagree on the age an egg should be incubated. Generally speaking I always like to incubate my own eggs at 7 days or less but I do know people have been able to incubate with some success with eggs at later dates. Unfortunately I couldn’t not control the age of the egg shipped or how it was stored in the shipping process. This was my first time hatching shipped eggs and was certainly a learning experience. I had a a successful hatch rate with eggs from my flock that were in the same incubator but unfortunately I didn’t have a single shipped egg hatch. I had quite a few make it to lockdown but none hatched 🥺
