I had to look this up, because I unfortunately candled incorrectly this morning, using a phone flashlight. 5 eggs were non viable of the 6 I tossed. The 6th had a fully developed chick in it, and chirped when I tossed it into the woods and it hit a tree root. Grabbed my 22 to put it out of whatever misery I put it in. Thanks for this video, it'll help me ensure it never happens again.

You shouldn't shake the egg like you do in the first candling, could shaker the embryo loose so to speak. If hatching rate from the incubator are low, that might be cause you've shook the eggs. And as a lady wrote, move the incubator to the let, so the table at the right side is free for you to put the frames on while candling.

the egg came first, dinosaurs laid eggs and chickens evolved from dinosaurs ;)
@simeonandalex7 жыл бұрын
How do you know that? It has never been observed that a new species comes from a different species. That is contrary to operational and observational science where everything observed is always changes within a species but never to a new one. Even if that was true. My conclusion was based on the law of biogenesis that life only comes from life which really applies to dinosaurs as well and it also refutes any non-intelligent design theories.

@@simeonandalex Evolution has been observed. The most simple explanation of evolution is the significant shift in allele frequency of a population. Imagine you have a group of rabbits with black fur that live in the desert. Over time, birds of prey and other predatory species will eat the easily visible mammals. Rabbits that are more camouflaged (ex. have more brown in the fur, which may result as a genetic mutation) are more likely to live longer and pass on their genes. This will result in the population becoming predominantly brown rather than black, demonstrating that they have evolved. If you'd like an example of how this leads to animals branching off to other species, I can give you one. There are several salamander species in South America which form what is known as a "ring species". You can compare the genetics across each species and find that they are very closely related, getting more distant as they get further geographically. This is direct observation of "speciation", or the point at which we (biologists) determine the genetic variation to be such that the organism can no longer be considered a member of the previous species. There is no "law of abiogenesis", abiogenesis is the process by which life comes to be from non-life. Currently, we have not observed this phenomena but have many hypotheses as to how this occurred. It is important to note that evolution and abiogenesis are very different. Evolution is what happens after life begins, it does not describe the process by which life comes into existence. Similarly, abiogenesis does not describe the process by which allele frequency of populations shift. To answer the question about the chicken or the egg, it comes down to semantics. If the question presumes that the egg is an egg which will hatch to be a chicken, then certainly the egg came first, as the animal which laid that egg would technically not be a "chicken". If, however, the question presumes that the egg in discussion must be laid by a chicken (i.e. a chicken's egg and not necessarily an egg containing a chicken) then of course the chicken would have had to have come first.

I do not presume to know what I cannot possibly know. However, the prevailing scientific hypothesis is that life arose from non-living matter, a process known as abiogenesis. We know that life did not always exist. Common sense dictates that at some point life came into existence from non-living matter. While it cannot be demonstrated how that happened, that does not mean it didn't.

What came first Chicken or Egg? Its egg. The evolutionary predecessor species of bird before a chicken (lets name it "Chicken-1" ) had to have laid an egg that at the phase of fertilisation DNA mixing had suffered a mutation that created "Chicken". Therefore as "Chicken-1" is not equal to "chicken", as its a ancestor to the species of chicken. The first instance of chicken was actually an egg. Chicken-1 cannot mutate into chicken only its embryo formation ie the state in the egg can then become a chicken. Therefore its egg first chicken second.
