One thing thats missing from a lot of Reacts is context. This song, for example, was essentially 2Pac’s reintroduction to the world after being in jail. The image he had prior to jail is radically different from the image he puts out here. This is the image of a man on a quest for revenge, and that knew his time was coming soon. It was also representative of gangsta rap in the 90s west era. Yes, technically California Love was his breakout, as I believe it was his first single after joining Death Row, but this is the one that solidified his image, and it was the first track on this album. This is the 2Pac people remember most, even though it was the least lived.

Knowing that you are and East coast guy that grew up not listening to him your not knowing was explained in another video you made. His mother was a Black Panther and he was born into and raised around those kinds of values. His stepfather was Matulu Shakur. Also a Black Panther. I HIGHLY recommend watching a documentary called Thug Angel. Also read a book that was released of all his poetry called The Rose That Grew From Concrete. Those area great start to try and understand the intelligence and eloquence in passionately expressing his thoughts and knowledge. As he got a little older and militant, especially after joining Death Row, he practically lived in the studio, high and writing and recording. He just had so much to say like he had to get it off his chest. He would double and triple his vocals in the studio. Also you are hearing his real, unfiltered thoughts expressed. That is why the delivery is so passionate and articulate. He had a Rolls Royce and a Mercedes 500SL, which is where the the line about scars and plush cars came from. not from when he was shot in Vegas. So much to know about that guy born June 16, 1971 that was lost way too soon. Happy listening.
