That's why he said "Now it's all about Versace you copy my style." But that wasn't all. Biggie stole a couple of beats. His Big Poppa for example was from a never released Tupac track.

2Pac gave a lot of his money away to the community and anywhere he saw homeless and poor people. His mother, a former Black Panther/Activist, raised 2Pac to feel and show love and empathy for his people. That's what he rapped about. Listen to the lyrics. No one compares to 2Pac, he was an activist, a writer, a poet, a lyricist, a wordsmith, an actor, and a dancer. He was and still is "amazing!"

Fr. I was born in the early 2000’s but my dad would always play 90’s stuff…and Tupac really stood out to me when he would play him (I was way to young at the time to be listening to it lol) but I listen to newer music…especially rap and it’s good…but nothing can compare to 90’s music…I wish ppl still made stuff like that…but unfortunately they don’t…they can’t compare to 90’s music in general but especially hip hop…I would kill to have witnessed these songs being released…

You're absolutely right brother. Except in this verse he's talking about "Now it's all about Versace you copied my style" Biggie wearing and mentioning Versace which is the clothing style Pac wore a lot. That was Pac's style not Biggies. Then Biggie started to copy it.

That was what hip hop was about when I grew up. Love Pac to death he was a lyrical genius with a poetic soul. Back in the days the music was real, raw that's why it was great& and fake, unloyal people were fu.. trash. Now everything and everyone is fake and it's cool to be a rat to get what you want and exactly that shows this unlogical, identical mumble ish that is called hip hop. Breaks my soul. Btw happy birthday to the legend ❤ pac will never be forgotten!

Biggie could NEVER be what 2Pac was just think about it....Pac was a poet, a writer, an actor in movies and TV, a lyrist, a dancer (Digital Underground), a community activist, a philanthropist, and a speaker. And he was good-looking. If you know anything about the Black Panthers, and the "Black Poets" poetic music group from the 60s and 70s then you know 2Pac was " revolutionary" that was just getting started. Nah! Biggie had nothing on Tupac Shakur. God only made one! 🙏

I was a teen at that time and the biggest Tupac fan. We really lived life back then. I feel really lucky to have witnessed this legeng. I am happy that you young people are really trying to learn about Tupac. He was a great man.

Pac's style was often simplistic...he was straight to the point and wanted to be heard clearly to the masses on any intellectual level. And made sure every word had meaning. Also recognizable in "Dear Mama". Pac and yaki kadafi(his cousin, m*rdered shortly after Tupac) were originally from the east coast as shown in the documentary "Tupac Resurrection". "Ether" is also one of my favorite diss records because it was direct and not subliminal, however of course this pre-dates that. Pac felt Biggie's "Who Shot Ya" was directed at him plus he was surrounded by so much negative energy after being shot and getting out of prison. He even stated he was paranoid. I'm from Louisiana so during that time I was indifferent to the beef but thought it was unnecessary and unfortunate and had gotten out of control..I'm sure someone may have already commented the sample was from Dennis Edward's "Don't look any further", which Biggie and Junior mafia sampled in "Get Money" first. So Pac took his sample to diss him😂

I can't say that Diddy had an overt hand in Pac or Biggie getting killed - there's lots of reasons that float around for that - but it can't be denied that Diddy made a whole lotta money off these beefs and the deaths that came after. At some point he realized that beef = PR and if you keep stoking the flames of East vs West, you stir up the fans of each to support their side even more passionately with their dollars. If nothing else, I feel like Diddy helped throw fuel on the fire to increase profits and maybe pushed it a little too far until people started getting killed. I'm sure he's sad to have lost his friend... but he sure did get rich off all that though. It's the same thing that politics does today. i.e. you tell one half of the people that the other half hates the country, are enemies of the country, want to destroy your way of life, etc. and the anger that you create causes the people who fall for it to donate more, protest harder, and vote more reliably than they ever would have otherwise. It's a short-sighted, cynical approach that wrecks lives and tears people apart but the people running things don't care as long as they get those sweet, sweet dollars and votes. They're playing a game and think they can control the monster of mob mentality... right up until people start shooting up churches and calling for civil war. Left vs Right is just East vs West on a national level and a whole lot of people are gonna end up like Pac and Biggie if the people in charge of our politics and media don't get responsible and put the brakes on before their Frankenstein gets loose. All that being said (and modern politics aside), I do like this Pac diss track because there's no posing involved. This is some real feeling and real anger at what Pac saw as a betrayal of his friendship by Biggie and music that comes from a real place is always more compelling than some shit that's obviously pretend and just geared to get clicks. On the other hand, it's hard to celebrate Tupac's "gangsta" approach to the world when you know that it didn't end well for him. Yeah, he's a legend of hip-hop, which is all well and good, but he isn't alive to enjoy that. Whatever the truth behind the murders actually was, death isn't romantic and I have a feeling, given the choice, Pac would much rather be breathing right now instead of rotting in the ground over some beef or "gangsta" shit.

Compare Biggies Style when he first came out to when he became Big Poppa. It was said that Tupac told Biggie to switch up his style to get the ladies. Also facts, Biggie stole Tupac’s music which is what led to the second version of Hit Em Up. Tupac had real beef against them because of dirty stuff that was done to him. They tried to kill him on numerous occasions. They stole his music even after he died. It’s a lot of producers coming out now telling stuff that was done to Pac. The interviews are on KZbin. Pac helped a lot of rappers and singers in the game. People don’t talk about that.

I think you underestimate the pre-streaming era. The "All eyez on me" album was so good, I had to go buy it 3 times. One broke, second was stolen from my car, so I needed a 3th one. This was a double CD, with many now classics. Makaveli was also nice. Today I only listen 90s hip hop, ODB, Tupac, Mobb Deep, the Wu. From today only Tom Macdonald, and only the hard ones. Tom Macdonald revived my love for hip hop, I became very bored with Dre and Snoop. They always say the same thing. Dre is from Compton, he moved, but he is still a gangster, Snoop is spelling words to fill lines. No. No fillers.

Biggie did bite Pac.... He wasn't talking flow but subject matter. Pac talked about death a lot then Biggie started doing it. It's not that people really copied Pac style but he changed everything. U change things that young u don't understand unless u can peep game looking from outside in. He couldn't see that from the inside. R Kelly even called himself the R&B thug

Tupac was betrayed by people he thought he was cool with and they set him up and he was shot 5 times but survived that’s why. He told the truth! Rest Well Tupac 💙💙💙💙💙💙
