Nice reaction, Sceez! I agree with your take. They telling us to “go back to sleep” and not wake up to the reality of what’s really going on. The sad thing is a lot of people would rather be sleeping. Love APC❤

Nice reaction, Sceez! I like your take. I’m not sure exactly what it’s about but I’m thinking you’re right. I like the idea of “go back to sleep”. Implying we don’t want you to wake up and see what’s really going on. Love APC ❤

The Thirteenth Step is one of my favourite albums of all time. The entire thing is the actual shit. 🔥🤘🔥

The whole album "Thirteenth Step" is about Maynard's addiction to opiates, the fallout of years of abuse and the toxic relationships formed with other opiate addicts, and eventually his recovery from drugs. The album title is a play on the idea of 12 step drug recovery programs - the thirteenth step is the first step after the twelfth step. This song deals with someone he's close to trying to keep him on opiates. "Go back to sleep" is a reference to the sleep inducing nature of opiate abuse. When you see the whole album with this understanding, all the lyrics make sense. All the songs are amazing, but "Gravity" is particularly beautiful and hopeful with lines like, "I choose to live" and "I am surrendering to gravity and the unknown". He is not getting "high" anymore so he's letting gravity bring him down to earth where his future is unknown. I recommend listening to the whole album. It starts with "The Package" which is clearly about going to score drugs from a dealer. I think every song on this album is about addiction and recovery. It's heartbreaking yet hopeful!

The song is about the Bush era and the war on terror 🤣 - album was released in the height of post-9/11 hysteria and the war on Iraq/Afgan. "Counting bodies like sheep To the rhythm of the war drums" plus so many other lines from the song. About how the media uses propaganda to tell us who to hate and be fearful of etc.

Great track. I always put on A Perfect Circle when I'm cleaning the house. Imo, you nailed the interpretation. There's a remix and a video that goes along with this too.
