awesome build. Defiently an old school touch to it with the sealed boxes to handle the high bass. Back in the day a lot of guys had a 4th order tuned real low and also had a sealed box handling the high bass. Love this set up
@BEAZY_5150 Жыл бұрын
Maybe that’s why when my gf listens to rock, the bass is non existent unless it’s some Tool or Alice In Chains. Still doesn’t hit like I’d like. Has the lows sure but the highs eh. I’m using a ported tuner at 37, but I listen to Russticals. Probably have to build a different box for the sub I’m using. It’s what I had in a pinch. It might be a little high for the sub.
@bubbawubba2307 Жыл бұрын
@BEAZY_5150 a 6th order would cover your needs but also installing a sealed sub under the dash. PSSound here on youtube has several videos of fabricated front subs. Or change the port in the box. Sub also your using could be made to play low and isn't that strong on the high end. Everything is a balance and nothing covers everything. That's why so many use Infinite baffle or sealed subs along with front subs in SQ builds. Phenomenal sounding cars

@@bubbawubba2307 it’s a single SSA EVIL 15” in a Chrysler 300, I need to find some decent midbass speakers for the doors and amp them up and leave the front dash speakers on headunit power. I’m really just missing the kick portion of the stage.
@evilinside5984 Жыл бұрын
@@BEAZY_5150- I own SSA EVIL subwoofers, they are low freq. Monster's that can dig deep! The enclosure you have your Evil 15 in is not ideal. They recommend 3 to 5 cu. ft. Net per 15", tuned between 28Hz to 34Hz @ the highest, with about 50 to 60sq. In of port area. What is the net cu. ft. of your current enclosure, and port area? Also what amp/model/power, and what impedance are you wired to?
@BEAZY_5150 Жыл бұрын
@@evilinside5984 I’m not sure about port area as I didn’t measure, and going off what a dude said that knew the dude he got the box from had a zv5 in it and was tuned to either 36 or 37. I know that doesn’t help lol. the opening is 12x4”. I have it on a deaf bonce 7900 at 1 ohm, it definitely takes the power. There’s a spot in the rubber gasket that’s not sealing flush, there’s a little less than an 1/8” of gap no matter what I do, in a 1.5” section but it was making a paper sound at that spot and felt some air on my hand so I got some rope caulk. I’m pulling tomorrow and sealing it better. I also set the subsonic hp at 27 hz. I know the guy at SSA told me they like the 29 range. Wondering if I should set it a bit higher since box tune is so high. I know I want to build another box for it and try forward and port back into the side. I have it forward right now. Tried back, it’s okay too but I’d rather be able to see it. Sounds okay but has some port noise. I can press the seal down and it pretty much goes away.

Beautiful build, I love it! Wondering, doesn’t it appear he needs to synch his two sets of subs back there? It looks like they’re exactly opposite in their phasing or timing, something doesn’t look right to me when the bass hits. Best way I can describe it is that it just doesn’t look like they’re firing at the same time / in the same sequence between the two different sets. Maybe it’s intentional? Or maybe it just doesn’t really make a difference? Idk, I just happened to notice it and was curious about it.

I tapped the powered sub into rear speaker wires, can I run the power and ground like normal and tap into that and run it all off my battery or is that too much for my 12v to handle if I make sure I have fuses protecting it from both subs? If so any recommendations on what to do for an external battery?

You should definitely experience things first hand, assuming & accuracy are two different things... Concerts halls, auditoriums, professional sound rooms use a mixture of ported, vented, sealed, reflective, transmission line, baffled, free air world wide. Hearing & sound is very subjective.

Setups like this, with different style of enclosure's, bandpass each enclosure type, to maximize there efficiency. Example: The 2-12s ported, tuned to 25Hz, and bandpassed @ 20Hz, and 40Hz, then the 2-12s in a small sealed enclosure, bandpassed @ 40Hz to 80Hz= Great bandwidth from 20Hz to 80Hz!
