Linn (short for Malin) is the blond singer and she really has a unique voice.

Linn is the blond one yes and she was pretty much their lead singer and front woman on the first album. Ace Of Base songs/ videos to react to would also be Wheel Of Fortune, Happy Nation, Don't Turn Around and Lucky Love :)

Marissa really needs to listen to All That She Wants as well. I think she would like their darker songs, which ATSW is the perfect example of early Ace Of Base.

Mention must also be made of Jonas Berggren, Linn's brother. He is the magical songwriter who invented that experimental sound along with another famous producer Denniz Pop. To me, Mr. Berggren will always be the king of dance tunes.

Linn (Malinn) had so much to give to this group, early on in the group a stalker really freaked her out broke into her house with a knife and it was a big ordeal so that was a turning point for her to take a less visible place in the group

Not sure if that's what caused it or if its just their story. She broke into the Berggrens home where Linn did not live anymore and wasn't there. It was Jenny and her mother who got terrified by the crazy stalker and had to deal with her that night.

One of my favorite songs. I loved the video. The 90's where the best. They also have a live version in Berlin in 1994.

Love the song - loved the reaction. I think the ABBA song you were referring to might have been The Day Before You Came. Marissa you are so right about Linn's voice. So beautiful and deep - much like her personality. So sad she didn't care for the music business and shied away - what a waste! Next video to react to must be Life is a Flower!

I grew up listening to Ace of Base, 2 Unlimited, scatman John etc including DjBobo and Corona those were the golden years of quintessential style that the 2000s concluded. Brings back memories

This group twee widely known for their more popier hits obviously but they have a darker undertone with dept. The 4 of the guys added something special into the group. This is one of my favourites. I never got the ABBA reference sonically but I can see the obvious comparisons in the line up BUT it’s not intentional. Just two song writers along with their sisters doing vocals. They had all the right ingredients at the right time

I was in 7th grade (1992) when they came out and I used to have their The Sign album on vinyl. Later I bought the CD version and I still love listening to it. One of the greatest groups/bands from the 90s.

By the time this was released as a single, Ace of Base's popularity had already started waning. Which is unfortunate because Living In Danger is a great example of their sound and energy. I appreciate you had the volume up, which is always the best way to listen to AoB.

You should listen to „Life is a Flower“ first, then to „Whenever you‘re near me“. The former was the most played song in radio in Europe in 1998, but the US label thought it sounded „too European“, so re-wrote the lyrics to „Whenever you‘re near me“ and released it that way in the US. You should compare those two, would be fun.

Ulf from AOB was involved in neo nazi groups when he was younger…and he credited making music with ace of base with pulling him away from hate groups. I always thought that was what this video was about. Also about trying to move beyond your biases. Not every stranger is a threat .

They don't sound anything like Abba to me, but they've always been compared to them. The best Ace of Base songs IMO are (of course) The Sign and Don't Turn Around and All That She Wants. For some reason, I either love their songs or find them grating (Lucky Love, Hallo Hallo, Happy Nation).

i love ace of base, yet we have to acknowledge their neo nazi roots fit with some of the lyrics, which is really unfortunate. There is a video about this somewhere on youtube.

That's just not true. One of the members, Ulf, had a Neo-Nazi past in his youth, that he had freed himself from by the time he was with Ace of Base.
